Ephesians 3:14-21
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all generations, world without end. Amen.
### Study Summary
The study of Ephesians 3:14-21 begins with a prayerful introduction, setting the tone for a reflective and spiritually enriching session. The passage is noted as a prayer from the Apostle Paul, emphasizing the importance of both teaching and praying in the spiritual life. The group is encouraged to use Bible prayers to revitalize their own prayer lives, drawing on the rich and divinely inspired words found in Scripture.
Paul's prayer in Ephesians 3:14 is motivated by the truths he has been teaching, as indicated by the phrase "For this cause." This highlights the recognition of human need and God's purposes for believers. The passage underscores the importance of Christ dwelling in the hearts of believers by faith, rooted and grounded in love. This love is described as surpassing knowledge, leading to a fullness of God's presence within the believer.
A key theme in the passage is God's ability to do more than we can ask or think, according to the power that works in us. This promise is a source of immense comfort and encouragement, reminding believers of God's limitless capacity to act on their behalf. The idea that what happens in the church is seen in heaven is discussed, with angels watching and being struck with wonder, love, and praise. This concept also includes the dark side of this audience, including Satan and demons, emphasizing the importance of our actions and prayers.
The unsearchable riches of Christ are referenced, emphasizing the inexhaustible nature of God's gifts. This is a reminder of the depth and breadth of God's grace and the importance of sharing this message with others. The group is encouraged to pray this divinely inspired prayer for themselves and others, emphasizing its inerrancy and infallibility.
In conclusion, the study encourages participants to reflect on the importance of both teaching and praying, and to embrace the power and grace of God in their lives. The group is also encouraged to pray for various individuals and situations, applying the truths of Ephesians 3:14-21 to their own lives and communities. ==========
