The Bible reading
Psalm 100
The study examined Psalm 100, noting its structure of exhortations to worship followed by reasons for that worship. The net emphasized that while humans are naturally inclined to worship, the fallen nature often results in dullness, requiring scripture to stir believers to fervent praise. The psalm commands all the earth to shout joyfully and serve with gladness, highlighting that worship is a universal duty for all people, not just a spectator activity.
Insights
- Weak worship is often a result of low views of God; magnifying His attributes through study leads to natural praise.
- Scripture phrases like 'sheep of His pasture' are like dehydrated food; meditation and cross-referencing expand their meaning.
- Intellectual understanding of God's works and attributes is the proper foundation for emotional worship, preventing hollow sentimentality.
- The psalm provides a foundation for Thanksgiving, listing specific reasons for gratitude such as creation, adoption, and shepherding.
- God's sovereignty and ultimate authority are the primary provocation for worship, as He is the only worthy object of praise.
- Believers can find comfort in the assurance that God's mercy and faithfulness endure to all generations, protecting future generations from evil.

0:28Yeah, Joe, when we got off the plane last night, you know, there's this gal, and she's in front of me, right?
0:34And she's kind of dragging along, and she's got probably a four-year-old son.
0:39And he's just running up and down the hallway, you know, bouncing around, because he just got off the plane, you know.
0:45Poor kid had to sit for hours.
0:47And I looked at the mom, and I said, can I borrow some of that energy?
0:51She says, after I get some of it.
0:54So, yeah, it's amazing.
0:55And kids are just a ball of fire.
0:59And, anyway, I've often told parents, you know, if you could just can some of that energy, store it up,
1:04and then give it back to them when they're about 60, they would really appreciate that.
1:09But that's how it goes.
1:10All right, Joe, KI6WXT, good talking to you, and we'll move along here.

3:34So that's Steve.
3:40He's running Vox, which is voice-activated transmission.
3:44He's got this little headset on, and he runs around the house.
3:48And we all think he's sitting at the radio being a good boy, but he's off making coffee and raking the leaves and doing whatever.
3:55And so that's why he got caught over.
4:00Amen.
4:01Yeah, yeah, all right, Steve.
4:07All right, let's see.
4:08The reason I know that is I've been in Steve's house, right?
4:11And I, in fact, operated off of that headset myself when I ran the net from his QTH once.

5:46And, Eric, thank you for that relay.
5:47Appreciate that.
5:48All right.
5:49It is time for us to get started with the West Coast Bible Study.
5:53We are in Psalm 100.
5:56And so we'll be looking at that psalm in a minute.
5:59So if you could all turn to Psalm 100.
6:02But before we get started, Will, Kielmike 5 Foxtrot is going to go ahead and lead us in prayer.
6:08Will, go ahead, please.
6:10Gracious Heavenly Father, we shout with joy for this time of Bible study this morning in the West Coast Bible Study.
6:17Lord, thank you for each and every one that's here and able to listen.
6:24And also for those that don't have call signs but are listening with their IP addresses, Lord.
6:31Lord, we ask for your blessings upon the propagation this morning, Lord.
6:36We thank you for being able to come together.
6:39And I'll say your word.
6:41Just pray that the Holy Spirit will work upon each of us each and every day.
6:46We pray that you would keep evil out of our lives, Lord.
6:49And we pray for those that have health issues, Lord.
6:52Well, that includes me, too.
6:55But, Lord, we just ask for your blessings upon the caregivers of those that have health issues, Lord.
7:02And we thank you for bringing Max back safely.
7:05And we pray that he would get some rest tonight.
7:08We just ask for your blessings upon us as we read your holy word.
7:13In Jesus' name we pray.
7:14Amen.
7:15Amen.
7:16Thank you for that so much, Will.
7:18Really appreciate that.
7:19That's Will KM5F.
7:20All right.
7:21We are in Psalm 100.
7:23And I want to give a little background to the psalm before you read it.
7:27You know, it's a sad commentary.
7:29It's a sad commentary on our corrupt and fallen natures that we have to be exhorted to worship God.
7:38The glad and willing and enthusiastic worship of God should be the most natural thing in the world to us.
7:46We were made to worship.
7:48This is obvious to any student of human history and human behavior because people across the world in every culture and all through the ages have always engaged in worship of some kind.
8:02It's inherent to our nature.
8:04And, of course, the true God is worthy of worship.
8:08There is certainly no better object of worship or a more suitable object of worship than the true and living God with all of his infinite perfection.
8:17And so we were made to worship because we were created in God's image.
8:23And God is infinitely worthy of worship because of who he is.
8:27And yet we do not worship with the fervency and the excitement and the intensity that God deserves.
8:34And which befits us who are creatures made in his image.
8:40And so the dullness of our spirits in this matter of worship and the deadness of our hearts in the activity of worship is a tragedy to be mourned.
8:50And it's a defect to be cured.
8:53And it is for this reason that Psalm 100, our psalm today, and many of the other psalms were written.
9:00They were written in order to stir us up and motivate us and provoke us to worship God with joy and with enthusiasm and with delight.
9:10Now, the way in which this psalm, Psalm 100, does this, is by first exhorting us to enthusiastic worship.
9:19And then having exhorted us to enthusiastic worship, it then supplies us with reasons why we should be enthusiastic in our worship.
9:29So the way this psalm is structured, first there's an exhortation to worship, and then there's an explanation as to why that worship should be rendered.
9:40And there are two sets of these couplets.
9:45There's two sets of this exhortation and this explanation in the psalm.
9:52So the first exhortation and explanation regarding worship is in verses 1 to 3, and then the second exhortation and then explanation as to why we should worship is in verses 4 and 5.
10:06So this is a small psalm, only five verses, but it contains and conveys a really important message,
10:14and that is that we need to be wholehearted and enthusiastic and fervent in our worship of God.
10:22All right, having explained the general idea of the psalm, Roger, WB7BZL, if you could read for us, please, Psalm 100, go ahead.
10:33WB7BZL, reading through the NASB's translation.
10:41Psalm 100, shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
10:48Serve the Lord with gladness.
10:50Come before Him with joyful singing.
10:55Know that the Lord Himself is God.
11:00It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves.
11:06We are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
11:13Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
11:18Give thanks to Him.
11:21Bless His name.
11:23For the Lord is good.
11:25His lovingkindness is everlasting.
11:29And His faithfulness to all generations.
11:32WB7BZL.
11:36WB7BZL.
11:37All right, Roger, great reading.
11:39Thank you for that.
11:41Okay, any comments on Psalm 100?
11:43Please come down with your call sign.
11:44Hi, this is WB7BZL.
11:58Roger, please go ahead.
12:00Well, as I was reading it, I was reminded if I had...
12:03I think maybe, possibly in my past, somebody else pointed this out to me, I'm sure.
12:10But these, maybe you just did too.
12:13But we have these commands.
12:15This series of commands.
12:17The first one is shout.
12:21And then verse 2, serve.
12:25And the next one is come.
12:29And then the next one is know that the Lord Himself is God.
12:36And as you pointed out, now the reason that we are His sheep of His pasture.
12:43Over.
12:43Yeah, well said.
12:47You know, when you have a short psalm like this, you can really spend time paying attention to the individual phrases.
12:55You know, in the King James it says, make a joyful noise.
12:59And I think your version says, shout to the Lord.
13:03And the idea there is an enthusiastic expression of high volume.
13:08And, you know, we express things to the degree that we are excited about them or really intense with reference to them.
13:20And so if something is not that big of a deal, we don't give it that much emphasis with our voice.
13:27And if something is a big deal, then we employ our voice much more forcefully and with much more volume and with much more intensity.
13:38And so this idea in verse 1 here of making a joyful noise or shouting unto the Lord is something that we are exhorted to do.
13:47Maybe we don't naturally do that, but it's something we need to apply ourselves to.
13:54And then the question is, who is supposed to do that?
13:58Well, it says all you lands.
14:01That is, it doesn't matter where people are.
14:05It doesn't matter who people are.
14:07If they're a person and they're breathing, they're supposed to be involved in worship.
14:14And so worship isn't something we watch other people do.
14:18It's something that everyone does without exception.
14:22So, Roger, those are good observations.
14:25There's a lot of hortatory statements here, a lot of statements exhorting us to do one thing or another.
14:34And so we're all going to church today.
14:36A lot of us are going to church today.
14:38Some of us went to church yesterday.
14:40But nevertheless, when you go to church, stir yourself up to sing with enthusiasm, to pray with fervency,
14:49into fellowship with a conscious purpose to bring glory to God as you talk with other people about him,
14:59either in singing or in prayer or in fellowship.
15:03All right, great comment there, Roger.
15:05Thank you for that.
15:06Any other comments?
15:07Please come down.
15:08KM5F.
15:09KM5F.
15:09KM5F.
15:11Okay, we had a double there.
15:13First, we'll do Will, KM5F, and then Mark, KM5F, and then Mark, KM5F, you go first.
15:20Yeah, back in Psalm 98, verse 4, it says, make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth, make a loud noise, and rejoice in singing praise.
15:31So it's noises just as well as singing and being jubilant.
15:36Okay, can you go first?
15:37Okay.
15:37Can you answer that?
15:38Yeah, Will?
15:40Well said.
15:41Praise is to have high volume.
15:44It's to be done.
15:45It's to be done at the top of our lungs, if you will.
15:50And so when we sing, we need to sing loudly.
15:54And so there's every reason for us to demonstrate enthusiasm.
15:58What's interesting, Will, is you point out, these same phrases are repeated over and over again in these psalms.
16:05You know, as you said, 98.4, make a joyful noise to the Lord.
16:12Psalm 100, verse 1, make a joyful noise to the Lord.
16:16And we see that in other psalms as well.
16:20All right, Mark, KJ7PVT, please go ahead.
16:25Thank you, Max.
16:27I'm looking here at verse 1.
16:30It says, make a joyful shout to the Lord.
16:32All you, man, serve the Lord with his presence with singing.
16:41Know that the Lord, he is God.
16:44Sometimes that word Lord is biased, and we say it as Christians so many times.
16:51But I want to, you know, for me, that was highlighted.
16:56It just popped out as I'm reading this.
16:58So I'm just going to turn to John 1.1 here and remember where it says here,
17:06it is he that has made us and not we ourselves.
17:09In John 1.1, it says, in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
17:17He was in the beginning with God.
17:19All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made that was made.
17:25In him was life, and the life was the life of men.
17:29He's our light, and the light shines in the darkness.
17:34We are filled with his light.
17:36We're supposed to shine in the darkness.
17:38He did that for us, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
17:42We have people all around us who don't know these things.
17:45And as we read these, as we understand who we're talking about here, it's no longer a compulsion to do this.
17:56This is, gee, okay, I have to do this.
17:58This is what it tells me.
18:00But as we remember who we're talking about and who is our Savior and what he did for us,
18:06these things well up with the inside of our heart, and they become the source of that joyful shout and those voices that open up.
18:16And back to you, Max.
18:18KJ7TBP.
18:20Yeah, Mark, really well said.
18:22Thank you for that.
18:24Yeah, you know, the exposition of who God is is always what provokes us to praise.
18:34And as Mark was pointing out here, he says, make a joyful noise to the Lord.
18:39Verse 2, serve the Lord with gladness.
18:43Verse 3, know that the Lord, he is God.
18:46Verse 5, for the Lord is good.
18:48So there's a big emphasis, as Mark pointed out in this psalm, on God being the Lord.
18:54That means he has ultimate sovereignty, and he has supreme authority.
18:59And so since he has supreme authority and ultimate sovereignty, that provokes us to worship.
19:07And then he brought out the Gospel of John, Chapter 1, and the fact that he's God, and that he brought light, and that he created us.
19:18And so the point is, the more we learn about God, the more we're provoked to worship.
19:24And so this is one of the things that we do, is we make a declaration in preaching, and in singing, and in scripture reading, here's who God is.
19:36And once we see his magnificence, as Mark said, the worship comes very naturally.
19:41You know, we don't have to have our arm twisted to speak with awe when we look at the Grand Canyon.
19:52You know, you walk up to the edge of that thing, and you look into it, and, you know, you're just kind of dumbstruck.
19:57And immediately you just start talking about how amazing it is and how wonderful it is because of the sight that came before your eyes.
20:04And so one of the jobs of pastors is to set God in front of us and to put him on display with verbal descriptions of who he is and what he has done.
20:21And then when we see God for the magnificence that he has, Mark was saying the worship just naturally flows.
20:28And I think one of the reasons why the worship is so weak is because our views of God are so low.
20:37And so as we magnify the Lord in our teaching, then we magnify the Lord in our worship.
20:48I remember one of the books that really profoundly affected me, affected me when I was a young believer,
20:54was a book by A.W. Tozer called The Knowledge of the Holy.
20:58And the book was about the attributes of God.
21:03And it was like, wow, I didn't realize God was this magnificent.
21:08J.I. Packer also wrote a book called The Knowledge of God, or Knowing God was the name of the book, Knowing God by J.I. Packer.
21:17A.W. Pink wrote a book called The Attributes of God.
21:20And as a young believer, I'm reading these books, right, and I'm getting this view of God,
21:25which is so much greater than anything I ever had before.
21:29And that view of God and his grandeur and his elevation and his majesty and holiness and sovereignty and love and mercy and compassion
21:39and all these attributes that he displays is what has always, you know, guided me all of my life.
21:48And so, you know, the more we learn about God, the better we understand God,
21:56the better our praise and worship will be.
22:00Mark, great comment. Thank you for that.
22:03All right, any other comments? Please come down.
22:10AK6OK, good morning, Max. Just getting it going here.
22:13Hey, good morning, Jeff. AK6OK, good to have you with us. How are you doing? Over.
22:17I'm doing great. I decided to sleep in a little bit this morning and let you run a thing, so I'm glad you're back.
22:29Well, thank you for covering for me while I was gone.
22:32And good to have you with us, Jeff.
22:34Do you have a comment on our passage or just checking in? Go ahead.
22:39I'm just checking in. I just got out of bed.
22:42I have absolutely no excuse whatsoever.
22:45I copy that. Well, I'm glad you got some sleep, and I'm glad you're with us. Thanks, Jeff.
22:51All right. Any other comments on our passage? Please come down.
23:07All right. While you're thinking, I want to make a couple of comments here.
23:10Verses 1 and 2, my version says,
23:15Make a joyful noise to the Lord.
23:18Verse 2, Serve the Lord with gladness.
23:22Come before His presence with singing.
23:25So the idea of joy and gladness are two emotions that are mentioned here.
23:32And of course, an emotional response always flows out of an intellectual understanding.
23:40And so as we comprehend with our minds who God is and what He's done, then our emotions flow out of that and are a response to that.
23:52And I think it's really important that both of these faculties are engaged in worship.
23:59We need sound teaching that informs our minds as to the works of God, the ways of God, the will of God, the attributes of God.
24:12And then having seen Him with our eye, then our heart responds with joy and with gladness.
24:21You know, it's really important that we not just whip up an emotional response to something independent of a proper understanding of what that thing is.
24:34And I think that a lot of people are stirred up by an environment and a set of circumstances to a degree of emotion that's not congruent with their degree of understanding.
24:49And so I think it's important that we access the emotions through the mind, and then those emotions will be properly directed, they'll be properly energized, and they'll be properly in their expression.
25:05So this gladness and this joy comes from a description of who God is.
25:12And we really see that in verse 3.
25:14The emotional response comes from knowing something.
25:21Notice verse 3.
25:22Know you, that the Lord, He is God.
25:25It is He that has made us, and not we ourselves.
25:28We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
25:31Well, there's a lot of information there in verse 3 about God, and maybe some of you guys can talk about that.
25:39But all this emotional response in verses 1 and 2 are the result of an intellectual understanding in verse 3.
25:50All right, other comments.
25:51Please come now.
25:53QQH.
25:55I have my radio turned down.
25:57Sorry.
25:58Come again, please.
26:00KJ7QQH.
26:03KJ7QQH.
26:04Go ahead.
26:04I just couldn't help but notice how timely and appropriate this is.
26:11We're currently moving into that time of the year where we celebrate Thanksgiving,
26:17and all the things that people come to think of Thanksgiving as, you know, the turkey dinners and everything.
26:26We just look here at this passage as the foundation of what we really should be thankful for.
26:33Over.
26:33Yeah, well said, Al.
26:38Al was talking about the fact that we're moving into Thanksgiving season, and this passage provides us with a foundation.
26:44You know, when we have Thanksgiving dinner, we go around the table and say to each person,
26:48what are you thankful for?
26:49Either something, you know, in the last year or something that's going on now.
26:54And so what we see here in verse 3 is that God made us, he adopted us, we're his people, and he cares for us.
27:07We're the sheep of his pasture.
27:08Well, there's a lot there, especially that sheep of the pasture thing.
27:12You can just run right through Psalm 23.
27:16And boy, is there a lot of things there about him being our shepherd and we being his sheep,
27:22to praise him for all the way from the green pastures and the still waters and to the valley of the shadow of death,
27:31to preparing a table before us, the goodness and mercy.
27:35You could just take that metaphor of him being the good shepherd and us being the sheep of his pasture
27:42and find a ton of descriptions in the scriptures about all of that.
27:49There's Psalm 23, there's John chapter 10, and there's many other passages as well.
27:56So, yeah, this is a good psalm to take with us into thanksgiving because it lists a bunch of things for which we can give thanksgiving.
28:08And so, once again, our praise is informed by what the scripture says about who God is, what he has done, and who he is to us individually.
28:20All right, any other comments? Please come now.
28:25WB7VZL
28:26Roger, please go ahead.
28:31Yes, I'm sure glad that you talked to us about the many places where the shepherd imagery is.
28:40And in my side reference here on My New American Standard Bible,
28:45it pointed me to this wonderful passage in Ezekiel 34
28:51about the wonderful shepherd that we have.
28:58I was thinking I would just read these verses if it would be all right.
29:08Yeah, please go ahead and read them.
29:09All right, this is WB7VZL.
29:13It's chapter 34, and I'm going to start with verse 22, 34, 22 of Ezekiel.
29:22Therefore, I will deliver my flock, and they will no longer be a prey, and I will judge between one sheep and another.
29:39Verse 23,
29:42Then I will set over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will feed them.
29:50He will feed them himself and be their shepherd.
29:55And I, the Lord, will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them.
30:04I, the Lord, have spoken.
30:07Wonderful, again, underlining of the Davidic covenant.
30:13Max, this is WB7VZL.
30:18Yeah, Roger, well said.
30:19And, of course, the David that's being spoken of here is actually the son of David, Jesus Christ,
30:25because the very next verse, verse 25, says,
30:28And I will make with them a covenant of peace.
30:31And, of course, that's a reference to the new covenant.
30:34So, wonderful imagery here of Christ being our shepherd as the son of David, as the fulfillment, as you well said,
30:44of the Davidic covenant, and of all of the blessings that it conveys to us through that son of David,
30:53who is, of course, the Lord Jesus, and who makes that new covenant,
30:57and who is, ultimately, the true shepherd.
30:59As he says in John chapter 10, who lays down his life for the sheep,
31:07who secures and protects the sheep, who provides for them, and who gives them eternal life.
31:13And no man can ever pluck them out of his hand.
31:17So, as we look at our psalm, Psalm 100,
31:19all of that is wrapped up in this little phrase,
31:23the sheep of his pasture.
31:26And, you know,
31:26a lot of times,
31:29you know,
31:30these phrases
31:31in the scriptures
31:33are kind of like dehydrated food, right?
31:37You know, you have dehydrated food,
31:38it's very concentrated,
31:40but you add water to it,
31:41and it expands, right?
31:43And it comes back to its normal size,
31:45and, you know,
31:46there's lots there.
31:48And, you know,
31:50when we take these statements in scripture,
31:53and we add to them the water of meditation,
31:57and reflection on other places
32:00where that same subject matter is expressed in the scriptures,
32:05we find them expanding,
32:08and filling with a tremendous amount of meaning.
32:12And so, you know,
32:15let's add the water of meditation
32:17to these condensed statements,
32:20and draw out the expanded understanding of them
32:24as we do what Roger did,
32:26which is grab other parallel passages
32:29that throw further light
32:31and provide additional information
32:33to the phrase that is in our text.
32:37And that's why
32:38when you look at a little psalm like this,
32:40Psalm 5,
32:41there's a lot there
32:43as we expand each of those statements
32:46to their full meaning
32:47with the water of meditation
32:50and parallel passages.
32:53All right.
32:53Any other comments?
32:54Please come down with your call sign.
32:56K-7-Z-I-P.
33:00K-5-S.
33:02K-5-S.
33:03Go ahead.
33:03I heard another voice out there.
33:05Does anybody have a relay on that other voice?
33:09K-7-Z-I-P.
33:12Okay.
33:13There it is.
33:14All right.
33:14Good.
33:14That is Brian K-7-Z-I-P.
33:18Brian K-7-Z-I-P.
33:20Come back to me.
33:21If you've got a comment,
33:22go ahead.
33:24Yeah.
33:24Yeah, Max.
33:25This is Brian.
33:26Can you hear me?
33:27Yes, I can.
33:28Go ahead.
33:32I'm getting over a pretty good cold,
33:34so sorry for the voice.
33:36But as me,
33:39being a father and a grandfather,
33:42as many of us on this net are,
33:45I was raising so many little ones
33:49that are still in their innocent ages
33:52and looking forward at the future
33:57and how there are so many more and more ways
34:00to sin or to be exposed to sinful things,
34:07I take a lot of comfort in verse 5.
34:12For the Lord is good.
34:13His unfailing love continues forever
34:16and His faith in us continues to each generation.
34:21K-7-Z-I-P.
34:22Yeah, well said, Brian.
34:27This is Brian K-7-Z-I-P.
34:29He was pointing out verse 5,
34:30and he's talking about his children,
34:32his grandchildren,
34:33and he sees all of the evil that lies ahead of them
34:37in terms of the corruption of the culture,
34:41all the negative influences
34:43that they can potentially be exposed to.
34:46You know, when we look at our little children
34:48and grandchildren,
34:49we tremble for their future
34:51because we realize how many landmines,
34:55moral landmines and theological landmines,
34:58are out there to trip them up
35:01and to blow them up
35:02and to drive them away from God.
35:05And so Brian was saying verse 5
35:07was a great comfort
35:08because in that future
35:10is not only all the efforts of Satan
35:13and a corrupt society
35:14to draw them away,
35:17but verse 5 says,
35:18the Lord is good,
35:19His mercy is everlasting,
35:21and His truth endures to all generations.
35:24And the version that Brian read
35:26had a few other words,
35:28but the idea there is that
35:30not only is wickedness awaiting our children
35:33and grandchildren in the future,
35:35God is there.
35:37And that's the comfort
35:39is we can commend our children and grandchildren
35:41into the hands of the God
35:43who is there,
35:45who is greater
35:45than any effort Satan might make
35:48or any effort the world might make
35:51to subvert them
35:52and to draw them away.
35:55And so, you know,
35:56we may not be able to protect
35:58our children and grandchildren
36:00from all the evil
36:01that they're going to be exposed to
36:03throughout their lifetime,
36:05but God certainly can,
36:07and He can certainly preserve them
36:09and enable them to be overcomers
36:12by His grace
36:13and His mercy
36:15and His providences
36:17and especially by His word.
36:21So, yes, Brian,
36:22God is there in the future
36:25to supply the needs
36:28of our children and grandchildren
36:30in a way that we never could.
36:32And what a comfort it is
36:34to commend them into God's hands.
36:36All right, I think Will KM5F
36:39had a comment.
36:39Will, go ahead.
36:41KM5F,
36:42like you,
36:44I live out in the middle of the country.
36:46The only noise that we have here
36:47are the trains that go by
36:48once in a while.
36:50But it must be difficult
36:51for people that live in a city
36:53with all the noise
36:53and distractions
36:54and little landmines
36:56that Satan has set up
36:57for them to keep them
36:58from actually focusing
37:00on their relationship with God.
37:03KM5F.
37:03That is so true, Will.
37:06There's a thousand distractions.
37:09And, you know,
37:09we have to purpose every day
37:11to bring into captivity
37:14every thought
37:15to the obedience of Christ
37:17because there's a million things
37:19that want to draw
37:19our thoughts away to them.
37:21And, you know,
37:22as you said,
37:23the more we're around people,
37:26the greater
37:27the number of things
37:30there are
37:31to draw us away from the Lord.
37:33And so, you know,
37:36we have to practice
37:37mental discipline.
37:39You know,
37:40we have to bring
37:42into captivity
37:43each thought
37:43and not allow our thoughts
37:44just to run around
37:45any old way they please.
37:48You know,
37:48my brain
37:50would be a constant
37:52traffic wreck
37:53if I let it.
37:55And so,
37:57I find myself
37:59having to exercise
38:01a great deal
38:03of care
38:03and control
38:04over what I let myself see,
38:07what I let myself hear,
38:09what I let myself talk about.
38:13And, you know,
38:14the Bible says,
38:15as a man thinketh in his heart,
38:16so is he.
38:17And so,
38:18if I want to be like Christ,
38:21then I have to think about Christ
38:22in my heart
38:24and in my mind
38:25and keep returning back
38:27to
38:27the Word of God
38:29and shutting out
38:31the counsel
38:32of the ungodly
38:33and the way of sinners,
38:35as it says
38:36in Psalm 1,
38:37and instead meditate
38:38in the Scriptures
38:39day and night,
38:40as it says
38:41in Psalm 2.
38:41So,
38:42yes,
38:43well,
38:44cities are places
38:45of great distraction
38:46from the Lord.
38:49And I'm not saying
38:50that being out
38:51in the country
38:51you can't be corrupt.
38:52You sure can be.
38:54But you're just not
38:55barraged
38:55with the level
38:56of intensity
38:57of sin
38:59that you are
38:59in the city.
39:00And I see that.
39:00I mean,
39:01when you're in the middle
39:02of New York,
39:03it's altogether different
39:04than when you're
39:04in the middle
39:05of the woods
39:05out here
39:06in Foster, Oregon.
39:08All right.
39:09Any other comments
39:10on our passage?
39:10Please come now.
39:11PWM.
39:14Brian,
39:15KJ7 PWM.
39:16Go ahead.
39:18Well,
39:18speaking of
39:19grandkids and that,
39:20we do have
39:21Alex here this morning.
39:22He's going to say
39:23good morning.
39:24Hi.
39:27Hello, Alex.

39:41with Grandpa
39:41and you're talking
39:42about them
39:43and you're learning
39:44about Jesus
39:45and having faith
39:46in Him.
39:47Alex,
39:48good to have you

39:50We got you checked in

39:56All right,
39:56that is Alex,
39:57Brian,
39:58KJ7,
39:58TWM's son.
40:00Okay,
40:01any other comments
40:02on our passage?
40:03Please come now.
40:04This is KT4ME.
40:13KT4F,
40:14go ahead.
40:15That's King Tango
40:17Mike.
40:19I'm sorry,
40:20King Tango
40:214 Mike Echo.
40:23And could I have you
40:25repeat the question?
40:26Yeah,
40:29this is a West Coast
40:31Bible Study
40:32and we are reading
40:33together Psalm 100
40:34and we are discussing
40:37its content
40:38and meaning
40:38and application
40:39to our lives
40:40and so,
40:42I'm just asking,
40:43does anybody have
40:44any comments
40:44to make on Psalm 100?
40:46Back over to you,
40:47go ahead.
40:48Okay,
40:50if I can,
40:51I'll turn it back
40:52to you.
40:53I want to read
40:54that scripture
40:55and then I'll jump in
40:56once I've digested it.
40:58Is that okay?
41:00Yeah,
41:01you bet it is.
41:02So,
41:02KT4ME,
41:03good to have you
41:04with us
41:04and that's Ken
41:07from Fallon,
41:08Nevada.
41:09Ken,
41:09good to have you
41:10with us.
41:10Appreciate you
41:11being there.
41:12All right,
41:12WB7MX,
41:13net control
41:14for the West Coast
41:15Bible Study.
41:15Any other comments,
41:16please come out.
41:18All right,
41:31well,
41:32while you're thinking,
41:32I want to talk
41:33for a minute
41:33about verse 4.
41:36Verse 4
41:36is like verses 1 and 2.
41:38It's an exhortation
41:39to worship.
41:41So,
41:41we have verse 1,
41:42verse 2,
41:43verse 4.
41:44These are the exhortation
41:45to worship
41:46and then verse 3
41:47and verse 5,
41:48give us the reason
41:49for the worship.
41:51So,
41:51verse 4,
41:52enter into his gates
41:53with thanksgiving
41:53and into his courts
41:55with praise.
41:56Be thankful to him
41:57and bless his name.
41:59So,
42:00the focus
42:00in verse 4
42:01is on thanksgiving.
42:03It mentions it twice
42:05and then blessing God's name
42:07means to speak well
42:08of him
42:09regarding what he has done
42:11for us,
42:12which is another way
42:13to express thanksgiving.
42:16So,
42:16you know,
42:16verse 1,
42:18make a joyful noise.
42:19Verse 2,
42:20serve.
42:21So,
42:22we sing,
42:22we serve,
42:24we have gladness.
42:26And then,
42:27verse 4,
42:28we have thanksgiving.
42:29And so,
42:30as we go to worship,
42:32you know,
42:32we express humility,
42:34we express submission,
42:36and we express gratitude.
42:38And we do that
42:39in our singing,
42:41we do it in our prayers,
42:43we do it in our preaching,
42:45we do it in our fellowship.
42:48So,
42:48what does worship look like?
42:51We,
42:52first of all,
42:52look at God.
42:53Who is this person?
42:55Well,
42:56he made us,
42:58he adopted us
43:00as his people,
43:01and he cares for us
43:03as a shepherd.
43:05Verse 3,
43:06he's good.
43:07Verse 5,
43:09he's merciful.
43:10And he,
43:12and he's stable.
43:13His truth endures
43:15to all generations.
43:17He's the same yesterday,
43:18today,
43:19and forever.
43:20So,
43:20that's the reason
43:21and the provocation
43:23for the humility
43:25and the submission
43:26to him as Lord
43:28and to the thanksgiving
43:29for what he has done.
43:31So,
43:31that note of thanksgiving
43:33needs to be prominent
43:34prominent in our praise
43:36because we don't deserve
43:38all the blessings
43:39he's given to us.
43:41You remember Jacob said
43:42when he was going back
43:43to meet Esau,
43:44he says,
43:44Lord,
43:45I'm not worthy
43:45of the least
43:46of your blessings,
43:48and yet,
43:48look at all the things
43:49you've given me.
43:51And so,
43:52however much we have,
43:53it's better than
43:53what we deserve,
43:54as our good friend
43:55Roger WB7VZL says.
43:57And so,
43:58we have grounds
44:00to be thankful
44:00in every circumstance
44:02that we're in
44:03because what we deserve,
44:05of course,
44:05is to be under
44:06the wrath of God
44:07in hell,
44:07and if we have
44:08anything better than that,
44:09we have lots
44:09to be thankful for.
44:11All right,
44:11any other comments
44:12on our passage?
44:13Please come now.
44:13All right,
44:30well,
44:30today is Sunday,
44:32of course,
44:33and we have
44:33the Vintage Military
44:35Radio Network
44:36following
44:36immediately
44:38after our net,
44:40and so we want
44:41to allow time
44:42for prayer.
44:43I got a text message
44:46from Cody,
44:47K-I-7-T-R-F,
44:49and Cody says,
44:50good morning,
44:51Max,
44:51here's an update
44:52on my Uncle Doug.
44:54Yesterday,
44:55he had a spinal tap
44:56and a stent
44:56placed in his brain
44:58to relieve pressure
44:59from excessive
45:00cerebral fluid.
45:02His infection
45:03turned out
45:04to be a different,
45:04more serious type
45:05than they first thought.
45:07He'll need
45:07a special antibiotic
45:09for six months
45:10to a year
45:11and will likely
45:12stay in the hospital
45:13that whole time.
45:15The infection
45:16and brain injury
45:17have taken
45:17his ability
45:18to speak,
45:19but he's still aware
45:20and responds
45:21with facial expressions.
45:24So, Cody,
45:25thank you
45:25for that report.
45:27That's a very
45:27sobering report.
45:30Cody,
45:31K-I-7-T-R-F's
45:32Uncle Doug
45:33had a severe
45:34accident
45:35in which he had
45:35a severe
45:36head injury.
45:38And so,
45:39he's giving us
45:41an update
45:41on his Uncle Doug.
45:43So,
45:43we will be sure
45:45and pray for him
45:46and bring him
45:47before the Lord.
45:49So,
45:49Cody,
45:50thank you
45:50for that update.
45:52All right,
45:53are there any other
45:54prayer requests
45:55that anybody wants
45:56to bring to our attention?
45:57Please come down
