The Bible reading

Psalm 103

The study began by identifying Psalm 103 as the first of the Thanksgiving Psalms (103-107), each focusing on a specific aspect of God's character, with Psalm 103 highlighting His mercy. The leader noted that David's praise is a response to God's fatherly tenderness and the fulfillment of the character God declared to Moses in Exodus 34:6. The group emphasized that the saving work of Jesus Christ makes God's grace and mercy certain, allowing believers to experience freedom from the guilt of sin and the fear of judgment.

Insights

  • The concept that 'your problem has a problem' was shared, identifying sin as the root cause of all earthly issues and Jesus as the solution to that root cause.
  • The phrase 'he remembers that we are dust' was interpreted as a sign of God's sympathetic understanding of human frailty, similar to a parent's patience with a young child.
  • The Greek word for angel, 'angelos,' means messenger, suggesting that humans can serve as angels by carrying God's message and help to others.
  • The leader shared a personal tradition of reading the Thanksgiving Psalms (103-107) with his family during the holiday season to cultivate gratitude.
  • The study highlighted that God's mercy is not merely a sentiment but a legal reality established by the atonement, ensuring that sins are no longer held against believers.
  • The connection between Psalm 103:5 and Isaiah 40:31 was noted regarding the renewal of strength for those who trust in the Lord.

2:00Good strong signal as usual.
2:01How are you guys doing?
2:04Quite good.
2:05I haven't heard the latest from Daylene about Autumn, but they had quite a discussion yesterday.
2:14I was praying through it.
2:15So thank you for your prayers, and we'll continue to ask for the Lord's will on all these things.
2:22Over.
2:23Yeah, copy that.
2:24Appreciate the patience that you guys are exercising with her and the depth and the degree of ministry.
2:32You know, it seems like God brings people into our lives that have profound needs, and we have to pour a ton of ministry into them.
2:42But that's what we do, and that's what Jesus has done for us.
2:46And so, Scott, I just want to thank you and Daylene for the depth and the degree and the continuing faithfulness of ministry.
2:56You know, a lot of people don't bother with folks like that.
2:59They just kind of give up, withdraw, but you guys have hung in there, and I really want to commend you for that and continue to minister to her and to her needs.
3:09May God be pleased to save her and open her understanding to the truth.
3:13So, Roger, we'll continue to pray for Autumn and her needs for sure.
3:19Okay, any other check-ins?
3:21Please come down.

3:47Brian says he's just listening again this morning.
3:49Station is still in a pile.
3:51But with any luck, the desk will be built today.
3:53Still not sure I'll get the station moved and hooked back up.
3:56Copy that, Brian, understand the struggle.
4:00And you just keep putting one foot in front of the other, one step at a time, and you'll look back in a couple weeks and say,
4:07Man, I'm glad I did that.
4:09But for right now, yep, you got chaos.
4:11We understand.
4:12All right, that's Brian, KJ7PWM.
4:14All right, any other check-ins?

4:49Okay, all right, any other check-ins?
4:53Please come down.
4:58Relay.
4:59Relay, please go ahead.

5:23I see you.
5:23Okay.
5:24You were tucked in there among some other call signs.
5:27Thank you, Eric, for that relay.
5:29Much appreciated.
5:30All right, that's my good friend Joe, KD7WBV, from Battleground, Washington.
5:35Up there fighting the good fight of faith on the battleground of God's spiritual warfare.
5:40All right, any other check-ins?
5:42Please come now.
5:43All right, we're going to get started with a West Coast Bible study.
5:54This is WB7MAX, and we are in Psalm 103.
5:59But before we read Psalm 103, we want to open our time together in prayer.
6:04And so, Bert, W7RKD, could you please open in prayer for us today?
6:08I sure can.
6:13This is W7RKD.
6:18For my wish, for our heads, our Father, thank you so much for this gathering on the frequency here.
6:26Thank you for this day.
6:29And we thank you for the manatee you are about to depart upon us and help us through our lives today.
6:35Help us be that shining light, that White House, the beacon of hope for those that are lost.
6:42And that we may attract them and guide them to you.
6:45And that you may love them as much as we have felt.
6:51And may they always feel your love just as much.
6:54It is so much, so important to us, Lord.
6:56And may everybody be blessed on this frequency today, those that are actually partaking and those listening.
7:05May you all have blessed days today.
7:08And be under the hand of his protection.
7:11In Jesus Christ's holy name we pray.
7:12Amen.
7:14Amen.
7:14Thank you so much for that.
7:15Really appreciate that a lot, Bert.
7:17Okay, we're in Psalm 103 today, Psalm 103.
7:23And I want to give a little introduction to this psalm.
7:26Psalm 103 is the beginning of what is called the Thanksgiving Psalms, which continue on to Psalm 107.
7:36So each of these psalms, from Psalm 103 to 107, has a theme.
7:43And each of them gives thanks to God according to that theme.
7:48So Psalm 103, which is our psalm today, gives thanks for God's mercy.
7:54Psalm 104 gives thanks for God's creation.
7:58Psalm 105 gives thanks for God's providential care and his covenant faithfulness.
8:04Psalm 106 gives thanks for God's forgiveness and patience.
8:10Psalm 107 gives thanks for God's goodness and wonderful work.
8:16So praise and thanksgiving are the dominant note of these psalms that we're starting and going to be going through in the next few days.
8:24And so I hope there's going to be an increase in the offering of our own praise and thanksgiving to God in the days ahead as we go through Psalm 103 through Psalm 107, the Thanksgiving Psalms.
8:39You know, we have Thanksgiving each year in our house.
8:41And I sit down with the family and I read Psalm 103, 104, 105, 106, and 107 out loud to the family.
8:50And we talk about all the things we have to be thankful for at Thanksgiving based on the Thanksgiving Psalms.
8:57So a little tradition in our own home.
9:00You know, it's important for us to understand that whatever our problems are, we have a lot to give praise and thanks for.
9:07And these psalms help remind us of what they are.
9:11Now, getting back to Psalm 103, our psalm today, it's the outpouring of the thankful heart to God for his grace and his compassion,
9:22shown both to David in particular and to Israel in general.
9:26So David in his own personal life and Israel in her national life has been overwhelmed with God's goodness and mercy in so many ways.
9:37And over such a long period of time, the praise and thanks to God is the only proper response to him who had done so much for them.
9:48And so this psalm sets forth God's mercy and the forgiveness of sins and in deliverance from wrath and in deliverance from destruction.
9:56And what it does is it just reflects on God's fatherly tenderness towards his children in remembering their weakness and their frailty.
10:06You know, God declared to Moses in Exodus 34 and verse 6 that he was merciful and gracious and long-suffering and abundant in goodness and truth,
10:19keeping mercy for thousands and forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin.
10:24And what God declared himself to be to Moses, centuries later, David experienced God to be in his own life and in the life of the nation of Israel.
10:36And so he is praising God for the same things God declared himself to be to Moses in Exodus 34 and verse 6.
10:44So it's important for us to understand that we serve a kind and compassionate and merciful and forgiving and patient and loving God.
10:56He's more gracious to us than we could ever imagine.
10:59And he can be these things to us because of the saving work of his son, Jesus Christ, on the cross, on our behalf.
11:09Jesus, by his making atonement for our sins and removing the wrath of God against us,
11:16just released and exposed the love and the mercy and the kindness and the compassion of God to us.
11:22And so the saving work of Christ, though he made it possible for God to be gracious and merciful to us, it's made it certain.
11:31And because of the saving work of Jesus, we've been overwhelmed with God's goodness and mercy in so many ways for such a long time
11:39that praise and thanks to God should be constantly flowing out of our hearts.
11:44So, praise be to the Lord who daily loads us with benefits.
11:48And that's what we're going to be reminded of as we go through this psalm together.
11:53All right, well, let's go ahead and read this psalm.
11:56Since I'm selfish, I decided to read this psalm myself since it's one of my favorite psalms.
12:03All right, so we're in Psalm 103, and I'll be reading out of the King James, and we'll read Psalm 103 together.
12:12All right, to verse 1.
12:42Satisfy at thy mouth with good things, so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles.
12:48The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
12:54He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
12:59The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and of plenteous in mercy.
13:06He will not always chide, neither will he keep his anger forever.
13:11He has not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
13:19For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
13:25As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13:31Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
13:39For he knoweth our frame, he remembereth that we are dust.
13:43As for man, his days are as grass, as a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
13:50For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone, and the place thereof shall knoweth no more.
13:58But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him,
14:05and his righteousnesses unto children's children.
14:09To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do this.
14:14The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom ruleth over all.
14:21Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
14:29Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts, you ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
14:36Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion.
14:41Bless the Lord, O my soul.
14:44Alright, this is WB7MAX, and that is Psalm 103.
14:49Any comments on this psalm, please come now with your call, sir.
15:06WB7VZNL.
15:08Roger, please go ahead.
15:09Verse 12 is such a famous, well, that whole section here.
15:17But as far as the east is from the west, so far as he removed our transgression from us.
15:27And, you know, you can't do that, so to speak.
15:30You can't figure out where that is, so it's just too far.
15:37It's infinite.
15:38Over.
15:39Yeah, that last word, captured, and it's infinite.
15:44There's no limit to how far away God has removed our sins from us, so that we will never see them again, we will never hear from them again, they will never be held against us.
15:56What a wonderful promise that is.
15:59And, Roger, thank you for pointing that out.
16:02That is such a wonderful verse, such a wonderful comfort, such a wonderful promise.
16:07And it's overwhelming to think that the atonement was so perfect that our sins have vanished because they were completely atoned for and thus are no longer on the record and cannot be found no matter where you search for them.
16:29So that's one of the grand promises of the new covenant, as you recall, in Hebrews chapter 8, where it talks there about the new covenant and the blessings that it brings.
16:42The third promise of that is that, verse 12 of Hebrews 8,
16:48So we have all of this language.
16:57God's not going to remember our sins.
16:59He's put them as far away from us as the east is from the west.
17:02He's cast them behind his back, it says.
17:05And it says in another place that He's cast them into the depths of the ocean.
17:10And, you know, the Holy Spirit labors to find language strong enough to convey the absolute nature of not only the sufficiency of the atonement, but the perfection of our forgiveness.
17:26So what a comfort it is to know, Romans 8, 1, there's no condemnation to those that are in Christ.
17:33And that's the wonderful freedom we have, the freedom from the fear of judgment and the freedom from the guilt of our sins.
17:42They have been forgiven.
17:45Praise the Lord for that.
17:46Good comment, Roger.
17:47All right.
17:48Any other comments?
17:48Please come now.
17:50Kilo, Kilo 7, Oscar, Quebec, Quebec.
17:52All right, Ted, go ahead.
17:53Oh, yeah, the one that stands out to me is the Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to anger and abounding to mercy.
18:03He will not become angry to the end, nor will He be wrathful forever.
18:08He did not deal with us according to our sins, nor reward us according to our transgressions.
18:13You know, I think, yes, if I want to be Christ-like, imitate God, yeah, I need to be more compassionate and merciful.
18:28And they ask, how many times shall I forgive my brother?
18:32Lawrence said 70 times 7.
18:34And just kind of, I guess, hyperboil, you know, it's just been like, who's going to count, you know?
18:42But, you know, it says that love is not easily offended or it doesn't take offense.
18:51You know, I can take offense on so many things.
18:53Like my sister brought this big styrofoil thing full of fish and meat and wanted me to lift it.
19:00And I couldn't, and she said something about that her daughter did.
19:06And she's a big girl.
19:07She's strong.
19:08But then I kind of got a little out of the attention because I said, well, I have spondyloarthritis.
19:15You know, that's like, you know, people's fingers that show up.
19:18And that's how my lower back is.
19:21I said, I'm not going to hurt myself.
19:23And she said, well, I didn't mean it like that, you know?
19:26So I can sit there and ruminate in my mind what somebody said, what happened 10 years ago or whatever.
19:36That's where stillness, what we call tesakia and the noetic part of our deep, deep heart where we're just bombarded with information.
19:48And, yeah, just trying to be able to sit alone and be quiet and all those thoughts and logismo and stuff will come up that happened a long time ago.
20:01That's something that happened in school.
20:03And all those kind of resentments will boil up to the surface.
20:08And I got to pray about it, you know, because, yeah, it can turn into resentment and ill will and some really bad things.
20:16So, yeah, forgiveness, forgiveness.
20:19God's very forgiving.
20:21Praise God.
20:22I'm thankful for that today.
20:24Thank you, Pastor Max.
20:28KK70QQ.
20:29All right, Ted, great comments.
20:31Thank you for that.
20:32And that just goes right along with the Lord's Prayer, doesn't it?
20:34Forgive us our debt because we forgive our debtors.
20:36And, you know, God has been so merciful and so patient and so gracious.
20:43And he has not dealt with us after our sins nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
20:49And so we need to be kind and patient and gracious and merciful and forgiving to those around us who offend us.
20:58And, you know, it says in many things we offend all.
21:02If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man.
21:05Well, I don't know any of us that would ever claim to be perfect out there.
21:09So we misspeak with our tongues.
21:11Others do as well.
21:13But love covers a multitude of sins, doesn't it?
21:16And thank God that he's covered our sins in the blood of Jesus.
21:20And so let's cover the sins of others and those unintentional offenses.
21:26Or maybe they were intentional.
21:28Who knows?
21:29But put the best construction on them, cover them with the blood, let them go, and move on forward with the relationship and return good for evil and kindness for harshness or cruelty.
21:42And it's amazing how God will work in and through and with that as we manifest to those around us the way he's dealt with us.
21:51We need to deal with others in the same way.
21:54Ted, great comment.
21:56Thank you for that.
21:56Okay, any other comments?
21:58Please come now.
21:59Kilo 7, November Echo Bravo.
22:02Okay, Kilo 7, November Echo Bravo.
22:04Go ahead there, Keith.
22:06Yeah, I'm really caught by verse 14 where he knows how we are formed and he remembers that we are dust.
22:14And the dust word really strikes me as seeing how sympathetic God is in our condition.
22:22Yeah, great comment there, Keith.
22:25Keith was talking about verse 14 and how sympathetic God is to our condition.
22:31He knows our frame.
22:32He remembers we're but dust.
22:33And, you know, Keith, I think those of us who are parents, fathers or mothers, you know, you look at your little child.
22:41Here he is two or three years old or whatever, and they're trying to walk and talk, and maybe they're not doing real well with their potty training.
22:48And, you know, they're trying to get it figured out.
22:52And here you are, a mature adult, and you're looking at this little child, and you go, you know, it's just a little child.
22:58That's where he's at.
22:59He'll grow.
23:00He'll learn.
23:00He'll make progress.
23:02And, you know, you pick him up, and you love him, and, you know, you're patient with him because you know they're framed.
23:09And you know they're just really immature.
23:12Well, God is the same way.
23:14He's a heavenly father.
23:15We're his little children.
23:17He looks at us, and he says, you know, I formed these people out of the dust of the ground, Genesis chapter 2, right?
23:25And they're weak.
23:27They're frail.
23:28They're just humans.
23:30They're not gods.
23:32They're certainly not angels.
23:33We're made lower than the angels.
23:36And so thank the Lord for his patience, his kindness, his compassion, his sympathy, and his understanding that he has toward us.
23:46And that gives us comfort that he looks on our struggles.
23:50He sees the intent of our heart.
23:52He overlooks our failings, and he continues to love us and hold us by the hand and help us take that next step like we do with our own little children.
24:02Keith, great comment.
24:03Thank you for that.
24:04All right.
24:05Any other comments?
24:05Please come now.
24:11WB7V, is it out?
24:12Roger.
24:13WB7V, is it out?
24:14Go ahead.
24:15Yeah, under that text, I squeezed in some real, real fine printing, and I'm just now reading it after who knows how many years, you know.
24:28This comes from, I guess, a lady, Eileen Bauer, that I ran across somehow.
24:37And it does refer to, as you say, the creation.
24:44And he is mindful.
24:45He is mindful.
24:47That's an action word.
24:49It's an action word in the Bible.
24:52And he surrounds our dust with love.
24:56So, that's kind of what she mentioned, over.
25:01Surround our dust with love.
25:04That's a great metaphor.
25:06That's a great visual, symbolic image.
25:09And, yeah, it's amazing that God would draw near to and interact with we who are less than dust and vanity, as it says in Isaiah chapter 40.
25:26And yet, he does.
25:27And yet, he does.
25:29So, praise the Lord for that.
25:31He sees his image in us.
25:33And he sees his son in us.
25:36And he sees how his son is restoring that image back to what we fell from.
25:43And, you know, we're a building project, and he's not going to quit.
25:47He's not going to fail or grow discouraged until he completes that restoration of the image of Christ in us.
25:56And he removes all the effects of sin, as well as all the penalties of sin from us.
26:04All right.
26:05Any other comments?
26:06Please come down.
26:17Well, while you're thinking, I want to make a couple of comments here.
26:20You know, David exhorts himself to bless the Lord in verses 1 to 5.
26:28He's having a talk with himself, right?
26:31And he says to himself,
26:33Self, bless the Lord, and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
26:38Verse 2,
26:39Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.
26:43You know, we're really prone to forget all that God has done for us.
26:47You know, we tend to focus on the immediate and that which is actually happening to us and around us in the moment.
26:56And, you know, we need to step back from that and realize, you know, the world is bigger than our circumstances we're going through in this moment.
27:05There is a God who is sitting on a throne running a universe, who sent his son to die for my sins,
27:12in whom I trust for forgiveness and redemption and reconciliation.
27:15I've been justified, the spirit of God's dwelling inside of me.
27:20I have God's word and his promises.
27:23I have a wonderful future ahead of me.
27:25And I have his presence and strength with me and working in me.
27:30And he's walking me through even this valley that I'm in right now.
27:35And his intentions towards me are goodness and mercy.
27:38And his destiny for me is that I would dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
27:43Well, when you put all of your circumstances, your present circumstances in light of all of that,
27:49then it's like, okay, I need to be thankful here for all God has done and is doing and will do in my life.
27:57So we need to have this talk with ourselves and say to ourselves, instead of complaining and whining and being bitter and angry,
28:06we need to thank the Lord and bless him.
28:09And he tells himself repeatedly here, what does it mean to bless the Lord?
28:13He tells himself repeatedly, bless the Lord.
28:16To bless someone just means to speak well of them, okay?
28:20It means to speak well of them.
28:22It means to praise them and thank them.
28:25It means to recognize them for the benefits that they have bestowed on you.
28:31So to bless someone means to raise your voice in gratitude to them for what they have done for you.
28:37So what David is saying to himself is raise your voice, David, in gratitude to God for what God has done for you.
28:47And David, speak well of God to others.
28:52And so that's what he's exhorting himself to do here when he opens this psalm with self-talk and with a determination to speak well of God.
29:03All right, other comments, please come down.
29:15WB7 of EZL.
29:17Roger, please go ahead.
29:20What we're doing, I believe, every morning is to make sure that we remember, as David's comment here,
29:32and he quotes basically the second commandment, the end of the second commandment,
29:41that the loving kindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him
29:47and his righteousness to children, to those who keep his covenant and who remember his precepts to do them.
29:59And that is from Deuteronomy.
30:05Actually, there's a reference to Exodus 20, verse 6, and then, of course, the second giving of the law has that in it as well.
30:13So, yeah, it's right in the second commandment.
30:21And he's basically highlighting that, wanting to not forget that over.
30:25Yeah, and you know what's interesting, Roger, is that when you look at the Ten Commandments,
30:31they're couched in the language that you just described.
30:35You know, he says,
30:36I am the Lord thy God, which delivered thee out of the land of Egypt.
30:41So he reminds them of his salvation there in the very first commandment.
30:47And in the very second commandment, he reminds them of his character and how he deals with them.
30:55And so that's Deuteronomy, chapter 5, and verse 10, it says,
31:04He shows mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandment.
31:10So he's talking in verse 1 about I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt,
31:18and from the house of bondage there is salvation.
31:21And then he talks about the fact that he shows mercy to thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
31:28There's preservation.
31:30And there is a disposition and an attitude of savor and of love and of kindness.
31:37And so it's not like God is this harsh taskmaster up there with a whip saying,
31:41Better do what I tell you to do.
31:43He's not like that.
31:45He's saying, Look, I've saved you.
31:47I'm merciful and kind and compassionate and gracious to you.
31:52And in that context, I've given you some rules to live by for your blessing.
31:57And also so that you can reflect my character and so that you can be a witness of who I am to the world.
32:05And so, Roger, thank you for pointing out, in essence, what Psalm 103 is saying is right there in the Ten Commandments.
32:13And it's what couches the demands that he makes upon us.
32:21Great comment, Roger.
32:23All right, any other comments?
32:24Please come down.
32:25All right.
32:34All right, while you're thinking, I want to go through this list in verses 3 to 5.
32:44So in verses 1 to 2, David says, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me.
32:51Bless his name.
32:52Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.
32:56And now he starts listing the benefits, right?
32:59And there's five of them here.
33:01First of all, he forgives all your iniquities.
33:04And if that's the only benefit we ever got, that would be gigantic, okay?
33:10Our sins are forgiven.
33:11We're delivered from wrath and judgment, and we're reconciled to God.
33:15And then the second benefit in the second half of verse 3, who heals all thy diseases.
33:21He either heals them in time.
33:23And how many times have each of us been healed from whatever sickness we had?
33:27And ultimately, all of our sicknesses will be healed in the resurrection.
33:31We'll never be sick again.
33:33And then the third benefit, verse 4, who redeems thy life from destruction.
33:38Now, how many times should you have been killed in a situation?
33:43I can think of a half a dozen times when I was a hairbreadth away from death because of the physical situation I was in.
33:51And God just saved me in his providence.
33:56It was amazing from auto accidents, from trees falling on me, various things.
34:02I know some of us have been saved from death through medical healing.
34:08And then the fourth thing there, who crowns thee with loving kindness and tender mercy.
34:14You know, how many blessings has God brought into our lives?
34:18Just all the little things that we didn't deserve.
34:22Maybe, you know, we got a better car than we thought we would.
34:26Or maybe the housing we're in is better than we had hoped.
34:31Or, you know, there's a thousand things in which God gives us little mercies.
34:36You know, God, you didn't have to do that.
34:38Thank you for that.
34:39It's not something I really needed.
34:42God just gave it to me as a blessing and a benefit above and beyond what I could ask or think.
34:48You know, it says, having food and clothing, let us there with the content, right?
34:52We got way more than that.
34:54And so God has given us tons and tons of little manifestations of kindness and mercy.
35:02And then verse 5,
35:04Who satisfies thy mouth with good things, so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle.
35:09He gives us food.
35:10And what does that food do?
35:12It strengthens our body.
35:14It gives us energy and ability to be healed from our diseases.
35:22You know, I just had an operation on my back.
35:25It was a minor operation, but the gal carved a big hole in my back.
35:30And then she sewed it up.
35:32And you know what?
35:32That thing's healing up.
35:34And it's amazing.
35:35You eat a tomato and your back gets well.
35:38Isn't that incredible?
35:40Or a piece of steak or whatever.
35:43And so those five benefits.
35:45He forgives your iniquities.
35:46He heals your diseases.
35:48He redeems your life from destruction.
35:50He crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies.
35:53And then he satisfies your mouth with food so that your youth is renewed.
35:59Lots to be thankful for there.
36:01All right.
36:02WB7MAX.
36:02Back to that.
36:03Anybody else have a comment?
36:04Please come down.
36:07AK6 OK.
36:09Jeff, AK6 OK.
36:10Go ahead.
36:11I finally had my coffee in.
36:13I'm awake.
36:14OK.
36:15So our pastor from our church last weekend made a comment that really stuck with me.
36:20And it has to do with the first three.
36:23He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
36:27And more of this verse, too.
36:31But it's that my problem has a problem.
36:34My problem, which might be cancer, has a problem.
36:37And the problem is Jesus.
36:41Or it could be the way your life is going.
36:44Your problem has a problem.
36:47And it hearkens back to all the history that we have, what God has done for us in our times of major trouble.
36:56All those problems have a problem.
36:59And that is there's a healer out there that jumps in and rescues us.
37:04Over.
37:05Yeah, well said.
37:07Yeah, your problem does have a problem.
37:09So, for example, if you're sick, OK, that's a problem, right?
37:14Well, that problem has a problem.
37:17What's the source of that problem?
37:19Well, the source of the problem is sin, right?
37:21Before sin, there was no sickness.
37:23There was no disease.
37:25There was no injury.
37:26There was no anything that causes us problems in this life.
37:32There's not going to be any problems in the new earth where sin is eradicated, right?
37:37So your problem has a problem, and that problem has a solution.
37:40And the solution is Jesus.
37:42He came to save us from our sins, which is a problem that is the source of every other problem.
37:49And so, yeah, praise the Lord for Jesus, who solves the problem, namely sin, which is the source of every other problem that we have.
38:03And, you know, a lot of times people will have a problem, right?
38:06And they'll think, oh, you know, what's God doing here?
38:09Well, why is he doing this?
38:10Well, the fundamental answer is, is all those negative things that happen in our lives, those are all the results of sin.
38:19Yours or Adam's or someone else's.
38:23And so what's the solution to that?
38:26Well, it's redemption.
38:28It's salvation.
38:29It's forgiveness.
38:30And so not only are our sins going to be put as far away from us as the east is from the west, but because that problem has been solved, all the other problems are solved that flow out of it.
38:44So not only are our sins going to be put as far away from us as the east is from the west, our problems are going to be put as far away from us as the east is from the west as well, because all of our problems are attached to sin.
38:59And so when sin is removed, problems are as well.
39:02So, Jeff, thanks for pointing that out, that we don't just have problems.
39:06Those problems have a source, and that source has been dealt with by the Savior.
39:10Praise the Lord for that.
39:12All right, other comments.
39:13Please come down.
39:14KM5S?
39:15Will, KM5S, go ahead.
39:17Yeah, verse 5 reminds me of a T-shirt that I have and a coffee cup that has the first part of Isaiah 4031,
39:25which says, but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength.
39:29They will soar on wings like eagles.
39:32The second part of the verse is, they will run and not become weary.
39:36They will walk and not think.
39:37KM5S?
39:39Yeah, right.
39:40So thank you for pointing out that parallel passage in Isaiah 40 and verse 31 to Psalm 103 and verse 5.
39:49That last phrase, thy youth shall be renewed like the eagle, there in verse 5.
39:54Well, that is echoed in Psalm 40 and verse 31, where it says that the weight upon the Lord will what?
40:01Renew their strength.
40:03And it sounds like you've got a running shirt there.
40:06They shall run and not be weary.
40:07They shall walk and not be faint.
40:09That would be a great verse to stencil onto a T-shirt when you're out jogging.
40:14And then if people ask you about that, you can share the gospel with them.
40:18Will, thanks for sharing that insight and that connection with Psalm 103 verse 5 and Isaiah 40 and verse 31.
40:29All right.
40:30Other comments, please come down.
40:31WB7V's at L.
40:39Roger, please go ahead.
40:41Yeah, yeah.
40:42Here we have, in first, let's see, verse 20, he gives praise.
40:50Bless the Lord, you, his angels, mighty in strength, who performs his word, obeying the voice of the Lord.
41:01And that brings to mind some passages.
41:06Psalm 91 verse 11.
41:09And that's such a well-known praise of angels.
41:15And then in Hebrews, I was checking that side reference, too.
41:20Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?
41:30So David was constrained here to remember the wonderful image.
41:37And, of course, the big angels above the mercy seat highlight that as well in symbol in the sanctuary.
41:45So he doesn't forget the angels in his praise, all right?
41:49Yeah, amen.
41:51And, yeah, those four seraphim that are around the throne of God, constantly praising God and also doing the work that God sends them to do.
41:59On top of that, uncountable millions of angels, all of which are said, as you well said, to be ministering spirits of God, to minister to those who shall be heirs of salvation.
42:11And while we don't pray to angels and we don't trust in angels, boy, we really appreciate them a lot because they are a tool that God uses, instruments in his hand, to carry out his will and his work in this earth and to bring blessing into our lives in ways that we can't even see and really don't even know about.
42:34But, yes, you know, David is saying to himself, self, bless the Lord.
42:42And then he's saying to Israel, Israel, bless the Lord.
42:47And then he's saying to the angels, bless the Lord.
42:50So the point is all created beings are to be involved in the worship of God for the great things he has done.
43:01He's done great things for me as an individual.
43:03He's done great things for the covenant community, the church of God.
43:07And then he's done great things for the angels.
43:10And all of us are to blend our voices together in a symphony of praise to God for who he is and for what he has done.
43:20And so thank you for pointing out the fact that every dimension of created being is to be involved in the praise of God.
43:29And even the heavens declare the glory of God, don't they?
43:32And, of course, all the animals in the sea and under the sea.
43:36And it speaks of them there in Revelation 5.
43:40They all praise the Lord.
43:42And so praise befits us.
43:44Thanksgiving befits us.
43:49Recognition of God's blessings in our lives befits us.
43:53And so when we rise above our circumstances to reflect on our God, it's amazing how joy replaces sorrow and worship overwhelms pain because of what he has done on our behalf.
44:11All right.
44:11Other comments on our passage?
44:13Please come now.
44:14I just was wanting to refer to a song Matt Redmond wrote called 10,000 Reasons.
44:30No one's mentioned it yet, but if you haven't heard that, look it up and give it a listen.
44:35It comes right out of Psalm 103.
44:38KJ, that one.
44:38Can you cue it?
44:40Okay.
44:40That's a song by Matt Redmond called 10,000 Reasons.
44:46And Al is saying we should look that up and read the words to that song.
44:50Is that accurate there, Al?
44:51Roger, Roger.
44:55Give it a listen, too.
44:56Okay.
44:57Give it a listen as well.
44:58All right.
44:58Thank you for that recommendation.
45:01All right.
45:01I think there was another station in with Al.
45:03Other station, please come forward.
45:11Okay.
45:12Alpha Romeo.
45:13Okay.
45:14Try again.
45:14Go ahead.
45:15I think I doubled.
45:17Yeah.
45:17Whiskey 7, uniform Alpha Romeo.
45:19Um, I don't think I was the other station who doubled, but, uh, I was just going to throw
45:25in a quick comment, uh, hearing the discussion about angels, uh, growing up, my mom used to
45:32always encourage us to, to be the angels in the hands of God, you know, to, to be the instrument
45:39through which God can work and do good to other people.
45:41And, and that oftentimes, um, the angels who appear in our life to help us, uh, navigate
45:52some of the challenges that inevitably we all go through, uh, are going to be other, uh,
45:59fellow travelers on this, on this planet, you know, uh, other people that are, uh, doing
46:06their best to listen to the spirit and to follow God's promptings and, and to help other people
46:11along the way.
46:12And, and so certainly, uh, God sends angels, real angels.
46:18Uh, but I think oftentimes to, uh, you know, one of the best practices is to, to watch for
46:24God's hand to reveal itself through the lives of those who are around you.
46:29And, uh, and, uh, and as I've done that, it's been, uh, a blessing to see some people who
46:36are really close to me, uh, help us along, uh, the journey, uh, back to that W7UAR.
46:43Uh, Mark W7UAR, good to hear your voice.
46:46Glad to have you with us.
46:48Okay.
46:48That's Mark W7UAR from, um, Utah, uh, Utah A-Witcher Radio.
46:54All right.
46:55Yes.
46:55Great comment, Mark.
46:56Um, you know, the word angel in the Greek is word ongolos, and it just means messenger.
47:03And sometimes the word ongolos is used of actual angels, but many times it's used of
47:10humans.
47:11Uh, that is a human who is bearing a message from one person, uh, to another.
47:18And, and so you're right.
47:20We can be angels in the sense that we bear and carry God's message.
47:25And, uh, God's help and God's love, uh, to other people.
47:30And, uh, you know, we, um, are, are able to see needs.
47:36We're able to reach out and minister to those needs and convey God's love and help, uh, to
47:43other people.
47:44And in that sense, in that sense, we're an angel, uh, in that we're a messenger of God,
47:49bringing God's blessings into other people's lives.
47:52So praise the Lord, Mark, you got some people that have been angels to you in that sense.
47:58And, uh, we need to turn around and pass that blessing on and be angels to others as well.
48:04All right.
48:04We are way out of time.
48:06We're not way out of Psalm.
48:07This is an amazing Psalm.
48:09There's so much here, uh, that is an encouragement to us, but, uh, our time is gone and, uh, we
48:15need to go to prayer.
48:16Uh, okay.
48:17Are there any final prayer requests before we go to prayer?
48:20Please come down with your call sign.
48:24Matt, should we continue this tomorrow on the same Psalm?
48:28Uh, we can do that.
48:30Yeah.
48:30Um, no, no worries about that.
48:32Um, there's plenty here to talk about.
48:34I'm sure that many people can share, uh, according to the list there in verses two to
48:39five of things God's done in their life.
48:41So, yeah, why don't we return to this, uh, Jeff, uh, because it's a, it's a great Psalm.
48:47It's rich.
48:47It's deep.
48:48It's full.
48:49So let's do that.
48:50Okay.
48:50You guys read over Psalm 103, meditate on it, and be prepared to talk some more about
48:55it tomorrow.
48:56Jeff, I appreciate that solution.
48:58Uh, okay.
48:59Um, I got a text message here from Tom at WW7T.
49:05Tom says, I've been trying to get through the Montana link to work for me all morning.
49:09Can't get it to work.
49:10Uh, I think we're in Psalm 99.
49:13No, uh, Tom, we are in Psalm 103.
49:16I'll text message him back.
49:18Uh, so anyway, let's check in Tom WW17.
49:21Not sure what's going on with Montana, but he doesn't seem to be able to get that to work.
49:27I'll, uh, I'll, I'll call him up and find out what's going on there after the net.
49:31Okay.
49:31Uh, any other prayer requests, please come down.
49:40All right.
49:42Well, let's go to the Lord in prayer.
49:44Uh, this WB7MAX.
49:47Um, Father, thank you so much for, uh, this wonderful song and, uh, all of the depth, uh,
49:55that it contains and all the perspectives that it teaches us.
49:59And Lord, uh, the, the number one thing we see here is the need for gratitude.
50:03Um, and gratitude to you in so many different areas of our lives.
50:10Father, thank you so much for giving us this psalm and in it revealing yourself to us as
50:18to what you have done for us and what your attitude toward us is, uh, the kindness, the
50:23patience, the goodness, uh, that you display in our lives.
50:27And so, Lord, just be pleased to help us to have a thankful heart and to reflect on all
50:35the mercies and the compassion and the goodness you have shown to us in redeeming us from our
50:41sins and all of their effects.
50:44Thank you, Father, that all of our problems have been solved because the problem of sin
50:49has been solved by Jesus and, uh, that, uh, his solution is being progressively applied
50:56and one day we'll be fully experienced, uh, in the resurrection.
51:00Father, we thank you for that.
51:03Uh, Lord, today we just want to bring before you Charles, November 7th, Gulf, November Delta.
51:10Uh, we just pray for him and his buddies as they're out in the woods.
51:13Give them a safe and successful deer hunt.
51:15Father, I pray that, um, you would give them good fellowship together.
51:20And, Lord, thank you for, uh, his, uh, reaching out to us from his hunting camp.
51:25Father, we just want to thank you also for, uh, Joe, T-I-6-W-X-P, uh, that he was back with
51:32us today after his biopsy yesterday.
51:35Lord, just pray that Joe would get a good report from that biopsy.
51:38Um, there's always some anxiety when there's a biopsy as to what it's going to reveal.
51:43And, Lord, we're just asking that it would be benign, uh, and that there would be no problems.
51:49Uh, Father, we just pray for Dave, AI-7-Q-Q, and this young man, Noah.
51:55That he's been ministering to, that he's brought to saving faith in Christ, and who has come
52:00out of prison.
52:01Lord, thank you that he's going to church now.
52:03Pray that you would continue to rehabilitate his life around Christ and his word.
52:08And, Father, uh, may his life be turned around, uh, from crime to Christ, and from prison to
52:15praise.
52:16Lord, we just pray for our brother Roger, WB7BZL, and he and Daylene minister to Autumn.
52:22Father, thank you.
52:23Daylene had to have a good talk, was able to have a good talk with Autumn, uh, last night.
52:28And, Lord, I just pray that, uh, Autumn would, uh, gain mental clarity and mental stability.
52:36And, Father, deliverance from false teaching, that she would become saved.
52:41And, Lord, you would just show her her need of Christ.
52:44Father, we just pray for Al, uh, N-6-M-O-T.
52:48Lord, I pray that, uh, you would heal his wife, Toni.
52:53Lord, she has an aneurysm in her abdomen.
52:56Pray, Lord, that that would get sewed up, fixed up, healed up, whatever is necessary, Lord,
53:02to take that life-threatening condition away.
53:05Lord, we pray that that would be accomplished.
53:07And, Lord, for Al's health issues as well.
53:09But, Father, whatever those are, be pleased to meet his needs.
53:13Father, we just pray for Jerry, KG6J.
53:16Uh, Lord, for his boss, Rochelle, who's going through chemo treatment and is going to start
53:21radiation before long.
53:23Uh, Lord, we just pray that you would be pleased to, um, be with Mark, uh, November 6th, November
53:29Echo Zulu, uh, who's having cancer treatment in Irvin, California.
53:35Lord, pray that would go well.
53:36Pray that it would be effective.
53:38And, Lord, we're just grateful for the good report that Jerry gave us about how his physical
53:43therapy is going.
