The Bible reading
Psalm 110
The study focused on Psalm 110, highlighting its status as the most quoted psalm in the New Testament with nine citations. The central theme is the dual office of Jesus Christ as both King and Priest, a unique combination in the Old Testament except for Melchizedek. The group examined how verse 1 establishes Christ's kingly authority and verse 4 establishes his eternal priesthood.
Insights
- The New Testament reveals the Old Testament, as seen in how Psalm 110 is used to prove the deity and humanity of Christ.
- Under Roman law, adopted sons could not be disinherited, illustrating the security believers have as adopted children of God.
- Christ rules in the midst of his enemies, meaning their actions are under his control and serve his purposes.
- The 'womb of the morning' in verse 3 is interpreted as a metaphor for the resurrection, emerging with the strength and beauty of a new day.
- The Pharisees' inability to answer Jesus in Matthew 22 stems from their failure to reconcile the Messiah being both David's son and his Lord.
- Believers are described as volunteers in Christ's army, reflecting the voluntary nature of faith and service.

6:44and I'll look over the screens here, see if I haven't forgotten anyone in a minute.
6:50But before we do that, we're going to open with prayer.
6:55Roger, WB7BZL, if you could open with prayer for us this morning, I'd appreciate that.
6:59Go ahead.
7:00Our Heavenly Father, what a privilege it is to invite your Heavenly Presence with us today.
7:08And we are venturing into a psalm that has such important relationships with who you are
7:18and the relationship within the community of love of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
7:27And thank you that your son, Father, referred to it, and a great example for us to look at in various parts of the Scripture.
7:40So I pray for Max as he guides us and mentors us in what he has learned about this portion of the Word of God.
7:48Through your Holy Spirit, in Jesus' name, amen.
7:52Amen.
7:53Amen.
7:53Thank you so much for that, Roger.
7:55Really appreciate that prayer.
7:56Okay, we are in Psalm 110, but before we read that psalm, I want to give a little introduction to it.
8:04Psalm 110 is an amazing psalm.
8:07It's quoted more times in the New Testament than any other psalm.
8:14In fact, this psalm is quoted nine times in the New Testament.
8:20And what that shows us is the significance and the importance of this psalm,
8:25that this psalm of seven verses would be quoted nine times in the New Testament.
8:32Now, all of those quotations clearly indicate that this psalm is messianic.
8:39That is, it's prophetic of the Lord Jesus Christ.
8:44Verse one of this psalm is quoted five times in the New Testament.
8:49And verse four is quoted four times in the New Testament.
8:53So obviously, verse one or verse four are super important.
8:57And these two verses set out the two great themes of this psalm.
9:02And that is, is that Christ is our king and that Christ is our priest.
9:08So we see Christ is our king in verses one to three.
9:11And we see Christ is our priest in verse four.
9:15And then in the later part of this psalm, verses five to seven,
9:19very briefly but very powerfully describe the success of his warfare against his enemies
9:26as the priest king who rules at God's right hand.
9:31So this psalm tells us two things.
9:33Jesus is a conquering king and Jesus is a redeeming priest.
9:39No other Old Testament figure ever fulfilled both of those offices of both priest and king.
9:48Now, priests might be prophets and kings might also be prophets,
9:52but no one was a king and also a priest at the same time, with one sole exception.
10:01And that exception to the rule was this man Melchizedek.
10:06He's revealed to us in Genesis 14 in a very unique and very limited way as the king of Salem,
10:14that is Jerusalem, and also as a priest of the Most High God.
10:19And so Melchizedek had this dual role of king and priest because he was the type
10:25and the foreshadow of the true final eternal king and priest who is the Lord Jesus Christ.
10:33So, what we have in this psalm is a description and a prediction of the promised Messiah.
10:40He would rule from the throne of God with all the authority of God,
10:44and he would mediate on our behalf in the temple of God with all the compassion of a loving Savior.
10:52So the one who rules us is also the one who redeems us.
10:56And so it's the culmination of these things that give us a wonderful sight of our Lord Jesus Christ
11:03as we read this psalm together.
11:06All right, to Beck, Alpha Alpha 5 Yankee.
11:09If you could read for us Psalm 110, I would sure appreciate that.
11:12Go ahead there, Beck.
11:14Alpha Alpha 5 Yankee.
11:15Good morning, everybody.
11:17I'm going to read 110, and I'm reading out of the New King James Version.
11:21The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool.
11:28The Lord shall send the rod of your strength out of Zion, rule in the midst of your enemies.
11:34Your people shall be volunteers in the day of your power.
11:38In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth.
11:44The Lord has sworn and will not relent, you are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.
11:52The Lord is your right hand.
11:54He shall execute kings in the day of his wrath.
11:58He shall judge among the nations.
12:01He shall fill the places with dead bodies.
12:04He shall execute the heads of many countries.
12:07He shall drink of the brook by the wayside.
12:10Therefore, he shall lift up his head.
12:13Alpha Alpha 5 Yankee, back to net.
12:18Beck, great reading.
12:19Thank you for that.
12:20Well done.
12:21Okay, any comments on Psalm 110, please come now.
12:42AK-6OK, in the office and catching up here, Mac.
12:45All right, glad you made a safe trip from your house to the office, and we got you at the office there, Jeff.
12:53You got a comment on our psalm at all.
12:55Go ahead.
12:57Not just yet.
12:58Just walk through the door.
13:00All right, copy that.
13:02Okay, real good.
13:03All right, this is an interesting psalm.
13:06Now, in verses 1 to 3, Jesus occupies the office of a king, and verse 1 is quoted extensively in the New Testament.
13:15And I think it would be good for us to read these passages.
13:21So I'm going to assign some people some work.
13:24Jerry, A-E-7-ER, when I call on you, I want you to read Acts 2-34, Acts 2-34, all right?
13:34And then Roger, WB7VZL, I'm going to have you read Matthew 22, 42 to 46.
13:42That's Matthew 22, 42 to 46.
13:45All right, and Steve, W6YSI, I'm going to have you read Mark 12, 35 to 37.
13:53That's Mark 12, 35 to 37.
13:56And Will, Kiela Mike 5, Foxtrot, we're going to have you read Hebrews 1-13 and Hebrews 10-13.
14:05That's Hebrews 1-13 and Hebrews 10-13.
14:08All right, Jerry, A-E-7-ER, go ahead and read for us Acts 2-34.
14:15All right, next, Acts 12.
14:20Acts 2-34.
14:28All right, reading Acts 2-34.
14:31For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says,
14:36The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand.
14:42Thank you, A-E-7-ER.
14:45Right, okay, so Peter in his Pentecost Day sermon is quoting this passage
14:51to affirm the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
14:57He's sitting at the right hand of the Father.
14:59He's not still laying in the grave.
15:02All right, Roger, WB7VZL, read for us Matthew 22, 42 to 46.
15:08And let's see, I'll start with 41 if you don't mind, because 42 is kind of...
15:19Now, while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question, saying,
15:26What do you think about the Christ, whose son he is?
15:32They said to him, The son of David.
15:35He said to them, Then how does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
15:44The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand until I put thine enemies beneath thy feet?
15:54If David then calls him Lord, how is he his son?
16:01And no one was able to answer him a word, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask him
16:10another question.
16:15Roger, thank you for that reading.
16:17Appreciate that.
16:17Well, that was quite the conundrum.
16:23And so, once again, here he quotes Psalm 110, verse 1.
16:27And so he's saying,
16:29Jehovah said to my Adonai,
16:32Sit at my right hand until I make thine enemies beneath thy footstool.
16:35So David is saying to Jehovah God, the Father, that the Messiah is his Lord.
16:46Well, elsewhere we read that the Messiah is David's son.
16:50So how could the Messiah be David's Lord, his superior,
16:54and also be his son, his inferior, at the same time?
17:00Well, it's because he's the God-man, right?
17:02So Jesus was saying the Messiah is both God, David's Lord,
17:07and he's also man, David's son.
17:11So that's the argument being used there from Psalm 110.
17:15So Jesus understood very well who he was in relationship to David from Psalm 110,
17:23and verse 1, because this is the Psalm of David.
17:25David's speaking here.
17:26And he's saying, Jehovah God said to my Lord,
17:31sit on my right hand, etc.
17:33So that's what's going on there.
17:35All right.
17:36We're now going to have Steve W6YSI read for us Mark,
17:40chapter 12, verses 35 to 37.
17:43Go ahead there, Steve.
17:44And Jesus answered, and to say,
17:52what is it?
17:54How is it?
17:55I say this is Christ's son of David.
17:59David himself said in the Holy Spirit,
18:03the Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand,
18:06so I put you beneath, beneath my feet.
18:09David himself called in the Lord.
18:14So in what sense is his son?
18:19The great crowd enjoyed listening.
18:26All right.
18:26This is a parallel passage,
18:28and Mark is talking about the same situation that Matthew is.
18:33And once again, we see this passage quoted,
18:36and this same argument extended.
18:38All right.
18:39That brings us to Will, KM5F.
18:42Will, read Hebrews 1.13,
18:44and then read Hebrews 10.13.
18:47Go ahead there, Will.
18:48KM5F, I'll be reading from the NASB,
18:51Hebrews 1.13.
18:54But to which of the angels has he ever said,
18:57sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?
19:03Hebrews 10.13.
19:06Waiting from that time onward until his enemies be made a footstool for his feet.
19:15KM5F.
19:15All right, real good.
19:19So basically, in Hebrews 1.13,
19:22he's talking about the exalted nature of Jesus,
19:25that he is above the angels.
19:27Never to the angels did God say to the Messiah,
19:31or never to the angels did God say what he said of the Messiah,
19:36and that is that they would sit at his right hand.
19:40And then, of course, Hebrews 10.13,
19:42speaking of Messiah,
19:43that all his enemies shall be his footstool.
19:45In other words, Christ will triumph over all his enemies.
19:49So basically, the universal teaching of these passages that we've just read and looked at
19:55make the interpretation of verse 1 crystal clear.
19:59And so after Jesus had finished his work here on earth,
20:16after he had died on the cross, been buried, rose again from the grave,
20:20God the Father as a reward and as an act of honor spoke those words to the Son.
20:27And basically, to paraphrase, what he's saying to the Son is,
20:33ascend to my throne from the earth,
20:35take the place of exalted honor and authority at my right hand,
20:39and I will, by my sovereign power, subdue all of your enemies before you
20:43and give you authority and power to rule over them all.
20:47So no more will the people of the earth subject Jesus to their hatred, persecution, and humiliation.
20:56Now God is going to see to it that they will be subject to the authority and power and rule of Jesus,
21:02and they will be under his feet,
21:05whereas when he was on this earth, they put him under their feet.
21:10And so this bestowal of authority and honor and power to God the Son by God the Father
21:16is described not only in this passage, but also in passages like Psalm 2, verses 6 to 9,
21:22and other passages as well.
21:24All right, well that gives you a little taste of the significance of this psalm
21:29and how it is used in the New Testament and how it proves both the humanity and the deity of Christ.
21:38It proves his resurrection.
21:40It proves his authority over all angels and over all peoples on the earth,
21:45and it teaches his victory and triumph over all of his enemies.
21:49So there's a lot here.
21:52And what we see is that our Bibles are one book,
21:55and the New Testament is in the Old Testament concealed,
22:00and the Old Testament is in the New Testament revealed.
22:04And we really see that in this passage.
22:07All right, any comments on this passage?
22:10Please come down with your call sign.
22:11This is WB7VZL.
22:21Roger, please go ahead.
22:24I have pondered this in some of the items that I have read recently.
22:30And what Jesus, I believe, is really focusing in on is the covenant position that he shares.
22:44Going back to Genesis 3.15, may I read what I have been helped by, Max?
22:53Yes, Roger.
22:54Please go ahead and read that.
22:55All the New Testament authors are telling the continuous story initiated by the Old Testament prophets.
23:10They knew that Adam was the original human son of God,
23:17that Adam forfeited that sonship position with the fall of Genesis 3.15.
23:25So that God set in motion a plan to regain that position for humanity.
23:35That God entered into covenant relation with Abraham to fulfill that plan or the plan.
23:45That Isaac was Abraham's only begotten son of promise,
23:50and therefore God's covenant son of promise.
23:52That Jacob was Isaac's firstborn son of promise,
24:01and therefore the covenant son of God.
24:06That Jacob's twelve sons became God's corporate covenant son as a nation called Israel.
24:15That King David continued the sonship succession and became God's covenant son.
24:24And that David's son Solomon became God's covenant son in the ongoing lineage.
24:34And knowing the Old Testament narrative,
24:38the New Testament writers knew that Jesus, born in this very lineage,
24:45was none other than the son of Abraham, the son of Israel, the son of David,
24:53and therefore the long-awaited covenant son of God.
24:57And this is the story the Bible tells.
25:01And that's probably long enough at this point.
25:06This is WB7 of Israel.
25:07Yeah, Roger, thank you for that.
25:11That was very well said, very accurately said.
25:15And what we read in Matthew chapter 1 and verse 1,
25:19it says,
25:20The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
25:26And, of course, we read in the Gospel of Luke that genealogy,
25:30going all the way back to Adam, who was, as you said, the son of God.
25:36And so the first Adam, the son of God, direct creation of God,
25:41as you said, fell and lost that position.
25:45And then God provided a lineage of sons culminating in Jesus Christ
25:51to redeem us and put us back into that position of once again being sons of God
25:57instead of being sons of Satan and of the devil.
26:03So praise the Lord for that, Roger.
26:05Roger, what a good summary sweep of how God is restoring us back to being sons of God.
26:14And it reminds me, Roger, of John chapter 1 and verse 12.
26:18But as many as received him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God,
26:24even to those who believe in his name.
26:27So, yes, Adam lost that position.
26:29Christ gained it back, and Christ gives it to us.
26:34And praise the Lord for that plan and for the execution and accomplishment of that plan
26:39so that we can be the adopted sons of God, dwell in his house,
26:44and he can be not just our Lord, but our Father, our Father who art in heaven.
26:51So praise the Lord for that.
26:54Great comment, Roger.
26:55Thank you.
26:56All right.
26:57Any other comments?
26:57Please come now.
26:58WB7 means it out.
27:08Roger, please go ahead.
27:10Yeah.
27:10That was the perfect way to wrap that gift, that presence of the great story of the Bible, John 1-12.
27:19And that is our legacy, my amazing grace.
27:27Thank you, Max, for that text.
27:33All right.
27:33Real good, Roger.
27:34Appreciate you being there.
27:37All right.
27:37Any other, let's see.
27:40The net would like to acknowledge Keith, K7NEB.
27:43Keith, see you there on the Utah SDR.
27:45Keith's out camping.
27:47So he's not on his microphone today.
27:49But, Keith, we got you checked in.
27:51Thank you for being there.
27:52Appreciate you being there.
27:54All right.
27:55Any other comments on our passage?
27:58Please come now with your call sign.
28:00KM5F.
28:01I will.
28:02KM5F.
28:02Please go ahead.
28:03Under Roman law, a child that was adopted could not be disinherited or disowned where the natural-born child could be.
28:13As adopted children of God, we will never be disowned or disinherited.
28:18Okay, I'm trying to listen.
28:20Amen.
28:21Well, thanks for pointing that out.
28:22That's an interesting cultural and historical artifact there that Will brought out.
28:27Under Roman law, a natural son could be disinherited, but an adopted son never could.
28:32And Will was just pointing out the security that we have as the adopted sons of God that we can and never will be disinherited.
28:41That's absolutely the truth.
28:42Once we have been made sons of God, we can never be anything other than that.
28:48Because the same God who saves us is the God who preserves us.
28:52Philippians 1 and verse 6, He which has begun a good work in us will continue to perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
29:01He gives them eternal life and they shall never perish.
29:04Neither can any man pluck them out of the Father's hand.
29:07John chapter 10.
29:08So, so many passages, Will, that reinforce and substantiate what you just said.
29:15Thank you for bringing that out.
29:17All right.
29:18Other comments.
29:19Please come down.
29:20Thank you.
29:21All right.
29:47While you guys are thinking, I would like to comment on verse 2.
29:54It says in Psalm 110 and verse 2,
29:57The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion, rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
30:04And so one of the things we recognize is that while we have lots of enemies as Christians, you know, we have the devil, of course, fighting against us, all of his helpers, and, of course, all of the unsaved.
30:20You know, the good news is that these enemies are known to Christ and they are under his control and they are never allowed to do any more than what actually serves his purposes that he's carrying out in this world to save his people, to sanctify his people, to bring glory to his name, and to destroy the works of the devil.
30:44So, you know, Christ has enemies.
30:49Well, we have enemies because we're aligned with Christ.
30:53But what do we see Christ doing?
30:55Ruling in the midst of his enemies.
30:57So no longer is Jesus a victim of what other people do to him.
31:02Now he is in control of what they do.
31:05And he will rule and reign in the midst of his enemies in such a way that we don't ever need to be afraid of what they might do or can do or would do.
31:17The Bible says the wrath of man shall praise thee, and the remainder of wrath thou will restrain.
31:24So if any wrath of man against God doesn't serve God's purposes, he simply doesn't allow it to be expressed.
31:30So that's the good news is that Jesus rules in the midst of his enemies, and therefore we don't need to be afraid of them.
31:39All right, other comments.
31:40Please come now.
31:41All right.
32:00All right.
32:05I am not hearing anybody.
32:07Is somebody out there?
32:09Roger, are you out there?
32:10Is my radio broken?
32:13Well, no.
32:15I just felt like I had probably unloaded and you wrapped it up beautifully with John 112.
32:21But actually, they were actually so blinded by their covetousness, they were not able to perceive that he truly was the son of God.
32:40That was promised that, you know, clear back in the beginning to restore humanity to God, what Adam lost.
32:52And so they were just so jealous and covetousness of the attraction that he was to the crowds and his humility at the same time.
33:09That is the beauty of Jesus, that combination.
33:15W.B. Sam Vizadell.
33:18Yeah, amen.
33:19All right.
33:20Glad to know my radio is working.
33:21You guys are just all silent out there.
33:25Yes, Jesus is the son of God.
33:29And, of course, that meant he had authority over them.
33:32They hated that.
33:33He was also very humble, as you well said, and they hated that because these people were filled with pride and self-importance and grasping after power.
33:42And Jesus was the exact opposite of that.
33:46He had power, but he wielded that power with humility.
33:49Come unto me, all ye that labor and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
33:53Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am what?
33:56Meek and lowly of heart.
33:58Well, they were anything but meek and lowly of heart, right?
34:01So that's a great contrast there, Roger, between the Pharisees and the Lord Jesus.
34:10And one more reason why they hated him, because he exposed not only their powerlessness, but also their pride.
34:18And so they had to destroy him so that they would not be exposed any further.
34:25And, of course, you can't destroy the Son of God.
34:29It was kind of stupid for them to try that.
34:32But, nevertheless, Satan is stupid, and so are his people.
34:36Anyone is a fool that fights against God.
34:39And people, when they try to do that, he that sits in heaven shall laugh.
34:43The Lord shall have them in derision, because how foolish it is to fight against God.
34:49Well, let's look at verse 3 here for a second.
34:52Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power.
34:55I think when Beck was reading that, I think he used the word volunteers.
34:59Thy people shall be volunteers in the day of thy power.
35:02And the idea here is that we are glad to volunteer to serve in the army of Jesus.
35:10The day of his power came when he saved us and regenerated us,
35:15and we became willing to have him as our Lord and Savior
35:21and to cast ourselves on him for the forgiveness of our sins.
35:25And so no one's coerced into becoming a Christian.
35:29We're all willing to become Christians.
35:32And then, as Christians, we're willing to serve the Lord.
35:36We're glad to volunteer.
35:38Lord, here am I. Send me.
35:40Remember, that's what Isaiah said there in Isaiah chapter 6.
35:44And so that's the attitude that we all have.
35:48Lord, I'm here to do your will.
35:51And so we're willing in the day of his power when he extends his saving power to us.
35:59And then as he extends his sanctifying and enabling power to us,
36:04we are more than willing to continue to serve the Lord Jesus
36:08and to be identified with him, to follow in his army,
36:13and to carry out the work and the cause and the advancement of his kingdom.
36:18You know, we have a volunteer military, right?
36:21The only people in the military are people who join.
36:24They were willing to go and fight for America.
36:27And it's the same way with Jesus' army.
36:30Everyone in it is a volunteer.
36:33We're all here of our own free moral agency.
36:37And we're glad to serve this king and to fight his battles.
36:41So let's be willing today to stand to it
36:46and put on the whole armor of God and wield the sword of the Spirit,
36:50which is the word of God, and fight the good fight of faith.
36:53All right.
36:54Other comments on our passage?
36:55Please come down.
36:56KM-5F?
37:02KM-5F.
37:03Well, go ahead.
37:04If nobody else has a comment, I'll make one.
37:07Yesterday we were driving and we were listening to Caleb,
37:11and they were commenting about if you were on a road trip,
37:15what Bible character, other than Jesus,
37:17would you like to have on that road trip with you?
37:19And I said, you know, Kisadak.
37:22Well, Kisadak and Anak are two people that we know
37:26very little about.
37:27What better way to know about them than being able to have a conversation
37:32with them side-by-side?
37:34KM-5F?
37:36Yeah, amen, Will.
37:38Yeah, I'm going to be going on about a 10-hour road trip today.
37:41I will have my wife with me.
37:43But, yeah, to have Melchizedek or Enoch, that would be great.
37:47Boy, we already have a lot of questions to ask those folks.
37:49Thanks for bringing up Melchizedek.
37:52Verse 4,
37:53The Lord has sworn and will not repent,
37:56thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
38:00And we can read all about Melchizedek in Genesis chapter 14.
38:05And, of course, there Abraham goes out to rescue Lot, right?
38:11And he comes back from his victory over all those kings.
38:16And he meets the king of Sodom.
38:19And Melchizedek is there.
38:21And he brings bread and water, or bread and wine, pardon me.
38:25And we see that Abraham gives tithes 10% of all the spoils that he gained in that battle to Melchizedek,
38:34who was both the king of Salem and the priest of the Most High God.
38:40And so he just shows up in the narrative and then disappears.
38:44We never hear from him again until the book of Hebrews comes along and says that he, Jesus,
38:51is a priest after the order of Melchizedek, not after the order of Levi.
38:58And so Jesus was, of course, from the tribe of Judah.
39:01Judah was not a priestly tribe.
39:04So how could Jesus be a priest when he wasn't of the priestly tribe of Levi?
39:10Well, because he was a priest of a completely different order than the Levitical priesthood.
39:17He was a priest after the order of Melchizedek.
39:20And so he is both a king and he is a priest, just like Melchizedek was.
39:28And as I said in my introduction, no king was ever a priest.
39:32And when a king tried to be a priest, he got turned into a leper.
39:36God said, nope, you are not going there.
39:39A king can be a prophet, and a prophet can be a priest, but no king can ever be a priest,
39:44except Jesus and, of course, Melchizedek.
39:47So anyway, he has an eternal priesthood.
39:52You know, this man Melchizedek, he shows up.
39:55We have no genealogy of him.
39:58And he disappears.
39:59We have no record of his death.
40:02And so in that sense, he's a picture of Jesus.
40:05Jesus has no beginning.
40:07And Jesus has no end.
40:09And Jesus is both a king and a priest.
40:13And so in those four respects, Melchizedek pictures the Lord Jesus Christ.
40:20All right, other comments on our passage.
40:22Please come now.
40:22Okay, we had a double there.
40:27Will, I'm going to let you follow up, and then we'll get Steve, YSI.
40:30Will, KM5F, go ahead.
40:32Well, I have a footnote which brings up a question.
40:35If Melchizedek was not of the order of Levi, was he of the priestly order of Aaron, KM5F?
40:41Yeah, the answer is no, because Aaron hadn't even been made a priest yet.
40:50So, no, he was of a completely unique order.
40:55He was not a priest of Levi or of Aaron at all.
41:00He was in a completely different category.
41:04All right, Steve, W6YSI, go ahead.
41:06Yeah, I'm just so glad that Jesus went to be up in heaven to take charge of everything,
41:16and he left us a comforter.
41:20That comforter is the Holy Spirit, and that's by that comforter and through that comforter
41:25and everything that we can glean from him that we're able to keep going
41:33and have hope and encouragement, W6YSI.
41:40Yeah, Steve, well said.
41:42Getting back to you, Will, yeah, Aaron hadn't been born yet,
41:50so there's no way Melchizedek could have been a priest after the order of the Arianic priesthood.
41:56This was too early in the narrative for that.
41:58But getting back to Steve's comment, Steve, I really appreciate, you know,
42:03you pointing out the fact that Christ is in control.
42:07You know, when Beck, Alpha Alpha Phi Yankee, read Psalm 110,
42:11he really emphasized the word shall as he read verses 5 to 7.
42:18The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.
42:22Verse 6, he shall judge among the heathen.
42:25He shall fill the places with dead bodies.
42:29He shall wound the heads over many countries.
42:32Verse 7, he shall drink of the book of the way.
42:35Therefore, shall he lift up the head.
42:38And the idea there of that repeated use of the word shall is the idea of unlimited authority
42:45and irresistible power.
42:48Christ is going to achieve his rule.
42:52He is going to secure the victory of his people.
42:57He is going to absolutely defeat Satan and all of his forces.
43:01So there is no question about that authority and that rule.
43:08And, Steve, I really appreciate you pointing that out,
43:10that here is one who has absolute authority, he rules in the heavens,
43:18he defeats his enemies, he protects and provides for his people,
43:23he builds his kingdom, and the gates of hell cannot and will not prevail against it.
43:30So what a wonderful perspective that this psalm closes with.
43:35Here we've got a king, here we've got a priest, here's what he's going to do.
43:38Here's who his people are, and here's what he's going to do with his enemies.
43:44So just a psalm of triumph of the Messiah, the triumph of the Lamb, of the Son of God.
43:52All right, other comments.
43:53Please come now.
43:55I think he was a question.
43:58All right, I think we had a double there, but I got Ted, KK70Q.
44:02Ted, please go ahead.
44:02Hi, yes, Pastor Max.
44:04I like that verse that says that we have a high priest in the heavens
44:10that is able to empathize and sympathize with our weaknesses
44:17because he's been tempted in all things yet without sin.
44:22So, yeah, in all my weaknesses and failings, the Lord can have compassion and mercy
44:34because he's been in a man's body, he's lived in the world,
44:38but he overcame the world and the flesh and the devil.
44:41So, I praise God that though I'm weak and fail often, miserably,
44:51he can empathize with my weaknesses.
44:54Praise God.
44:55KK70Q, back to you.
44:58Yeah, amen.
44:59Ted, thank you for bringing out that passage.
45:01That passage is in Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 14,
45:05which says,
45:35pointing out the impact that Jesus is a priest after the order of Melchizedek
45:41and how that personally plays out in our lives, as you well said,
45:46in Hebrews 4, verses 14 to 16.
45:51And so, this priestly position is not some abstract position of authority.
45:58It's a position of compassionate care for his people and for their needs for both redemption and forgiveness,
46:09as well as instruction and teaching.
46:12Jesus is a king.
46:14Jesus is a priest.
46:16And in that kingly and priestly role, he operates as a prophet, teaching us the word of God.
46:22All right, there was another station in there with Ted.
46:25Other station, please come now.
46:27That was fine, Yankee.
46:29I'm looking at verse 3,
46:32and I'm just looking for a confirmation of what I'm reading here.
46:37It says,
46:38Is this talking about when Jesus comes back?
46:47You know, it could be.
46:54It could be.
46:56You know, it says,
46:58Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power and the beauties of holiness.
47:02And then it says,
47:03From the womb of the morning.
47:06And the idea there is that the beginning of the day, okay,
47:09When the day is first born, we see the sun start to come up.
47:14We hear the birds start to sing.
47:16The air is clear and fresh.
47:20There's dew all over the grass.
47:23And the idea there is of youth and strength.
47:27And so it's talking about Jesus, I think, being risen out of the grave.
47:35You know, when he went into the grave, he was bruised and broken and battered and bloody and destroyed, if you will.
47:46And his life was taken.
47:48And then how does he come up out of the grave?
47:51The grave is like a womb that he comes forth out of.
47:55And he has all the strength and beauty and moisture, if you will, that heralds the beginning of a day of brightness and blessing and productivity and delight.
48:11So I think it's a reference to his resurrection.
48:15And Peter uses it that way in Acts chapter 2.
48:18But I think also it could very well be a reference to his second coming, as you suggested, because he's going to come like that with great power.
48:28And he's going to come with great strength.
48:31And he's going to come with tremendous, you know, as it were, youth.
48:38We think of a young man, you know, in his 20s.
48:41He's just in his prime.
48:42He's full of strength and power and force.
48:47And so that's the metaphorical picture that's being drawn here, I think, of his resurrection and his second coming.
48:54Back to you there, Beck.
48:55Go ahead.
48:57Okay.
48:58It makes more sense with the resurrection, because in the day of your power, in my mind, God's in control.
49:04So since his resurrection, he would be in power.
49:07But it could have the other side, too, where when he comes back a second time.
49:13Thank you so much, Pastor Max.
49:14Alpha, Alpha, Alpha, Yenke.
49:18All right, real good.
49:19You know, it also, there, Beck, is talking about thy people.
49:25Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power.
49:28And, you know, when we're born again, Beck, we have the beauty of holiness on us.
49:35We've been born out of the womb of the new birth.
49:39And we have the dew of our youth, that is, the beginning of eternal life, on us.
49:46So, you know, it could be talking about us as well.
49:50You know, oftentimes, a verse will have multiple references, not multiple meanings, but multiple references.
49:59And so we can see this applying to us as well in our new birth, when we come forth as new creations in Christ.
50:09Previously, we were dead in trespasses and sins.
50:12And now we're brought to new life.
50:14All right.
50:14Wow, we are way over time.
50:16I apologize for that.
50:18It got carried away here.
50:19We need to go to prayer.
50:21Okay, are there any final prayer requests?
50:23Please come down at your call sign.
50:29All right, Al, KJ7 QQH.
50:32Go ahead and close in prayer for us, please.
50:36Thank you, Pastor Max.
50:37Good morning to everyone on the net.

62:23from Highway 11.
62:26Actually,
62:28no, just follow what the Internet says.
62:30I think,
62:31because there's a bridge out
62:33on the path that I often take,
62:35but it will probably direct you
62:37to another path
62:38to find the address.
62:40God bless.
62:41Is Kathy coming?
62:42She is.
62:43Okay.

63:52It's kind of like
63:52a big pioneer dress
63:54with a bonnet
63:55and an umbrella.
63:57Kind of like a little bumpie,
63:58but it was all black.

64:14inflated from
64:16all the craziness
64:18and drive-by shootings

64:22That's why I live in
64:24a town of 4,500 populations.

64:30up here, maybe.
64:34I spoke with the
64:35law enforcement officer
64:36when we first moved in
64:37and asked him about drugs
64:39because I found out
64:40we have a drug problem here.
