0:00what the news is going to be today with baited breath, whatever that means.
0:08Yeah, copy that. That's a good pun, baited breath.
0:13I love it, Beck. You've always got such a quick mind.
0:16All right, we got Beck and Sandy in the fishing creel here with baited breath.
0:23That's good.
0:24All right, we will stop these silly metaphors and get serious here in a minute,
0:30but we're in Psalm 115 there, Beck, so if he could be turning to that,
0:36we'll be talking about that in a minute.
0:39Any new news on the possibility of you moving to the other place? Over.
0:44That's why I'm waiting with baited breath.
0:46Today's the guy who's going to come do the inspection.
0:50I keep calling it a survey.
0:53An inspection of the home and tell me what the good or bad news is.
0:57Yeah, copy that. Home inspection, Dave.
0:59Okay, so real good.
1:01All right, well, we'll be praying that God gives direction regarding that home purchase.
1:06We've got you on the prayer list for that.
1:08All right, any other check-ins this morning?
1:10Please come now.
1:10W-7 RKD checking in for my daily bread.
1:21And there is Bert, W-7 RKD from Troy, Montana.
1:24Good morning, Bert. How are you doing?
1:27Good. Doing pretty good.
1:30And I've been staying out of the bait box.
1:34Yeah, copy that, copy that.
1:36Well, I'm going to switch bait here and start using a Meps No. 1.
1:41That was always my go-to, a Meps No. 1 with a gold flasher.
1:46I caught more trout on that thing than you can shake a stick at.
1:50Boy, when I was a kid growing up, we used to use those.
1:55And, boy, if you ever got snagged, you'd wait out there and get that thing unsnagged
1:59because you couldn't afford to keep buying them.
2:01I was poor as cockroach.
2:04And if I was going to catch fish, that was the lure in the Feather River there in California.
2:11So, anyway, Bert, good to have you with us.
2:13Over.
2:15Yeah, it's good to be here.
2:16Yeah.
2:17Yeah, that's what I used to use, Meps.
2:21I remember those.
2:22I think I got one or two still in the tackle box.
2:25But I got a friend of mine that used a diver.
2:27He goes out to the lakes, sets his crawdad traps with his scuba suit.
2:33He puts it on and goes diving.
2:36And while he's down there, he picks up fishing poles and lures and stuff.
2:40Oh, it's just, yeah, he comes home with a haul, especially with the lures.
2:44But, anyhow, I hope that our lures today shine brightly and attract those trout that are out there that are lost
2:55and that they receive the joy that we receive from our Father
3:00and are just as full of joy for him, too, and for the kingdom of heaven.
3:05And with that said, Max, I hope you have a bus day and everybody on the frequency.
3:09W7RKD, just listening.
3:11I copied that, Bert, real good and couldn't agree more.
3:13Yeah, may our light so shine that men see our good works and glorify our Father,
3:19which is in heaven, and come into the kingdom through repentance of sin and faith in Jesus.
3:24All right, then, I would like to acknowledge Gene, K7GWR.
3:27Good morning, Gene.
3:28See you there in Utah.
3:29Appreciate you being there, brother, and we got you checked in.
3:32I also see Peter, KJ7BA.
3:35Good morning, Peter.
3:36See you there in Utah as well.
3:38Peter, good to have you with us.
3:40All right, Peter says good morning to everyone.
3:42Good morning to you, Peter.
3:44And appreciate the greeting.
3:45All right, let's see.
3:46Who else do we have here?
3:48I'll look this over, but any voice check-ins.
3:51Come now.
3:51And good morning, Roger.
3:56WB7VZL.
3:57How'd the trip to Coveville, Washington go yesterday?
3:59Quite well.
4:01Quite well.
4:01We're just thankful to that and thankful for wood, heat, and shelter up here.
4:08It's about 31 degrees here in the shack, at least outside, and there's no heat in this portion of the house.
4:15So I'm going to bundle up here after having a shower.
4:19God bless, and we'll be listening.
4:22All right, real good.
4:23That's Roger.
4:24That's Roger WB7VZL up in Coveville, Washington at the cabin.
4:27It's 31 degrees.
4:28Well, hey, Roger, that'll keep your amplifier cool, right?
4:31You can just crank that baby up, and it's not going to overheat because it's being cooled by the ambient 31-degree air.
4:40Electronics work well when they're cold.
4:42Unless they're super cold.
4:44All right, Roger, go get some coffee and some jackets on, and we'll chat with you in a minute.
4:49All right, the net would also like to acknowledge Lee, AL7KG.
4:53Good morning, Lee.
4:54See you there on the Utah SDR.
4:56Lee, good to have you with us, and hope you can get your radios fixed up one of these days.
5:01But until then, we've got Lee as a listener on the Utah SDR.
5:05All right, any other check-ins?
5:06Please come down.
5:08KJ7PWM.
5:09So there's Brian, KJ7PWM.
5:12Brian, how are all the farm animals doing?
5:15Well, it seems like they survived our trip with us being gone, and the ones we brought home seem happy to be here.
5:23So just prepare a request, a praise for a safe trip and a great visit.
5:28And that's all I got.
5:31All right, real good.
5:31I'm glad to hear that the trip went well.
5:34Brian was bringing a horse back from where he was traveling to, I think somewhere around Spokane.
5:39And so, yeah, hauling an animal home and a horse trailer, that's always a cause for concern.
5:45Well, I'm glad everybody's good on the farm and you had a safe trip, and praise the Lord for that.
5:50And hopefully Anna and Emma are doing well also.
5:54All right, WB7MX here, looking for check-ins.
5:57Come now.
5:57Quick comment.
6:02Quick comment.
6:03Go ahead.
6:04The MEPS I used to use was gold with a black stripe and red dots.
6:09Is that the one you're talking about?
6:12Yeah, no, this was just a spinner.
6:14It had a treble hook, a fur over the treble hook, and it had a gold spinner.
6:21It was a MEPS, M-E-P-P-S.
6:23Oh, wow.
6:24Yeah, Roger.
6:25I thought the one that I'm talking about was a MEPS.
6:28But I'm looking at the website.
6:29I don't see that one.
6:31Maybe that was a different brand.
6:32But I've got a couple of brand new ones from 1979 or 1985 or something like that still in the box.
6:39And, yes, I used to go swimming to get mine.
6:43Oh, yeah, I copy that.
6:44Well, they made a lot of different blade designs and configurations.
6:48So, yeah, great company.
6:50All right, WB7MX here.
6:52We are ready to get started with our West Coast Bible study.
6:55And Jesus said, follow me and I will make you fishers of men.
6:59So that's what we're fishing for today.
7:03All right, we are in Psalm 115.
7:05But before we get started with that psalm, we want to open in prayer today.
7:08Kevin KB7ZX in.
7:10Please go ahead and open prayer for us today.
7:13Well, thank you, Brother.
7:14Yeah, Panther Martin makes some pretty good spinners, too, there I've always had good luck with.
7:19Well, let us bow for our most gracious and loving Father.
7:23We thank you so much for this time that we have to come together to look into your word, Lord,
7:28to fellowship together, to share in thoughts and praises.
7:33And we thank you, God, for all of your answered prayers.
7:36Lord, at this time we, too, pray for those that aren't able to join us this morning that we miss hearing amongst us here.
7:44For whatever reason they're not here, Lord, we just ask that you would be there for them in their time of need.
7:51Father, for those that we don't know yet that have tuned in and that you've guided this way, Lord, the silent multitude,
7:57we ask that you would bless them as well, as well as each of us.
8:01Lord, bless us.
8:02Help your word settle in our hearts and help us to take it out to share the good news with those around us.
8:08Jesus, we thank you once again.
8:10Amen.
8:11Amen.
8:12Thank you so much, Kevin.
8:13Really appreciate that prayer and bringing us to the throne of grace.
8:16All right, this WB7MAX, Net Control for the West Coast Bible Study, we are in Psalm 115.
8:23And as is our custom, I will give a little introduction so that we understand what we're reading as we read it.
8:30Psalm 115 appears to have been written shortly after the return of the Jews from their Babylonian captivity.
8:38And during their residence, of course, in pagan Babylon for 70 years, the captive Jews had abundant opportunity to observe both the prevalence and the futility of the idol worship that took place in Babylon.
8:55They were able to see the clear superiority of the true and living God they worshipped over the dead idols that were produced by men's hands there in Babylon.
9:06And the folly of idol worship was plainly apparent.
9:10The gods of the heathen were both useless and worthless because they were figments of men's imaginations.
9:19Dreamed up by depraved people who imagined that their gods were just like them.
9:27And, of course, such gods were powerless to help because they really didn't even exist.
9:31But Jehovah, our God, is not like these false gods.
9:36Who cannot see or hear or speak or think.
9:40He's entirely different from the self-invented gods of the even nations.
9:45So the psalmist in Psalm 115 calls upon God to vindicate the glory and the honor of his name by showing himself strong on behalf of his people.
9:54And he calls upon God to vindicate the honor of his nature before watching worlds by blessing his people and by being their help and by being their protector.
10:06And so as Jehovah shows himself strong on behalf of his people, it will both prove to the heathen the reality of his existence and power and it will also prove to the heathen the foolishness and the stupidity of their practice of idol worship.
10:22So this psalm, Psalm 115, is a strong polemic against idols and idol worship.
10:30And it is a strong exhortation to the people of God to trust in the true and living God alone as the one who can and will be their help and shield in every situation and in every circumstance.
10:43All right, that's a little introduction to our psalm, its background and its main theme.
10:49Jeff AK-6OK is going to read for us Psalm 115.
10:54Jeff AK-6OK, go ahead.
10:57Okay, good morning and thanks so much for being here this morning, everybody.
11:03Let's read Psalm 115, starting with verse 1.
11:07And this is the New King James Version.
11:09Verse 5.
11:36Verse 7.
11:37They have mouths, but they do not speak.
11:39Eyes they have, but they do not see.
11:42They have ears, but they do not hear.
11:44Noses they have, but they do not smell.
11:48Verse 7.
11:49They have hands, but they do not handle.
11:53Feet they have, but they do not walk.
11:56Nor do they mutter through their throat.
11:59Verse 8.
12:00Those who make them are like them.
12:03So is everyone who trusts in them.
12:06O Israel, trust in the Lord.
12:09He is our, I'm sorry.
12:11He is their help and their shield.
12:14O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord.
12:17He is their help and their shield.
12:19Verse 11.
12:21You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord.
12:24He is their help and their shield.
12:27The Lord has been mindful of us.
12:30He will bless us.
12:31He will bless the house of Israel.
12:33He will bless the house of Aaron.
12:35He will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great.
12:40May the Lord give you increase more and more, you and your children.
12:44May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth, and the heaven, even the heavens are the Lord's.
12:53But the earth he has given to the children of men.
12:57Verse 17.
12:58The dead do not praise the Lord, nor any who go down into silence.
13:03But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.
13:09Praise the Lord.
13:11There you go, Max.
13:13Great reading there, Jeff.
13:14Thank you for that.
13:15Really appreciate that.
13:16All right.
13:17Any comments on Psalm 115?
13:19Please come down with your call.
13:20KB 7 Zedickson.
13:22Kevin, KB 7 Zedickson.
13:23Go ahead.
13:24Well, very good.
13:26Thank you, Jeff, for the good reading, and Max for the wonderful introduction.
13:31And, you know, that is interesting.
13:33And I just see where some scholarship indicates that they likely probably sing this together with Psalm 114.
13:41At least at one time, they probably did.
13:45But I love the way, I think it's important to note just how this whole psalm begins.
13:51Because we see the proper humility that we should have.
13:56And the proper orientation toward worship, that is, that all glory should be given to God's name.
14:03Not to those that are worshiping God, but to Him Himself.
14:08And so that really kind of sets the positions properly, our hearts and our focus, as it did for them, as they go in to this psalm, to this prayer.
14:27KB 7 Zedickson.
14:28Kevin, great comment.
14:31Thank you for that.
14:32Yeah, verse 1 says,
14:33Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto Thy name give glory for Thy mercy and Thy truth's sake.
14:42You know, there's two kinds of worship.
14:45There's the worship that is God-centered.
14:49And then there's the worship that is man-centered.
14:51And the Bible is pervasively and exclusively God-centered in its worship.
14:59And so I really appreciate you pointing out, Kevin, the humility that is being manifested in this psalm and should be in our hearts, too.
15:08God is great.
15:09We are small.
15:11He is holy.
15:12We are sinful.
15:14He is infinite.
15:15We are finite.
15:16And we could go on, describing the contrast between God's exalted nature and our smallness and sinfulness and unworthiness.
15:30We are the work of His hands.
15:33And so, therefore, we should give our lives, if they're a reasonable service, to worship Him.
15:40And so, yes, all glory be to God and not to those who worship.
15:47Kevin, it's really important, as you said, to be God-centered and God-focused on our worship and not on ourselves, not on those around us, but on Him.
15:59And so there's this denial of any desire for glory to go to ourselves.
16:04And there's this emphasis and insistence that all of the glory go to God.
16:10And that needs to be the disposition of our hearts when we worship in church and when we go throughout our daily lives as well.
16:17And when something goes well, it's praise the Lord, because He's the one who made it all possible.
16:24Kevin, great comment.
16:25Thank you.
16:26All right.
16:26Other comments.
16:27Please come down.
16:30AK-6, okay.
16:32Jeff, AK-6, okay.
16:33Go ahead.
16:34Yeah, here's a little perspective here.
16:36I love this.
16:37In verse 4 through 8, the psalmist mocks pagan idols.
16:42And this is a commentary that I'm reading here.
16:46But they mock pagan idols made of silver and gold.
16:52And yet they're sculpted with human features.
16:55They're completely dead.
16:57They have mouths.
16:57They can't speak, et cetera.
16:59But here's the part that caught my eye.
17:02A central warning states that worshipers are like what they worship, spiritually blind, deaf, and lifeless.
17:08You've got to be really careful what you worship out there.
17:11Over.
17:12Yeah, well said.
17:13And, you know, that's the way you know that there's always a false god because the false gods are like the people who create them, right?
17:22And so what you find is people projecting themselves into God, and therefore their gods are like them.
17:31And like the people who are spiritually deaf and blind, in the same way their gods are deaf and blind as well.
17:39And, you know, in our study of psalms earlier, we looked at Psalm 50, right?
17:46Psalm 50.
17:48And he says in Psalm 50, in verse 21,
17:57These things hast thou done, and I kept silence.
18:00Now here it is.
18:01You thought that I was altogether such a one as thyself.
18:07But I will reprove thee and set them in order before thy eyes.
18:12So one of the things that really is the distinction between false gods and the true God is the true God is the true God isn't like us.
18:22In fact, he stands in sharp contrast to us.
18:25And that's the reason why we know the God of the Bible is the true God, because human imagination will never come up with a God like that.
18:31Because human imagination just projects itself, which is the highest thing it knows, into the gods that it worships.
18:40And so our God is not like us, and that's why we have to depend upon divine revelation to teach us what God is like.
18:49And so Job, I think, asks the question, can't stop by searching, find out God?
18:55And the answer is no.
18:57If God doesn't reveal himself to us, we are never going to have proper conceptions of him, because he's not like us.
19:05And we can't discover him with depraved, fallen human reason.
19:09And he needs to reveal himself to us by divine revelation.
19:14And thank God for our Bibles, because it tells us what God is really like.
19:19So, yeah, Jeff, great point there.
19:23You know, and that's why it's so important for us not to not only carve out idols, you know, physical objects,
19:31but just to create false conceptions in our own minds as to what God is like.
19:36You know, a lot of people would say, oh, I'm not an idolater.
19:39I don't have any statues around my house of some God that I worship.
19:44But what they've done is they've created in their own minds an idea of what God is like.
19:51And that is just as much of an idol as any statue ever was, because, once again, it's a false conception of God.
19:59And whether it's material or whether it's mental, if it's not the God of the Bible, it's an idol.
20:06And so that's why it's so important for us to study who God is, what he's like, what his characteristics are, his works are, as revealed in the Scriptures.
20:17And then we're going to be worshiping the true God and not a God of our own imagination or of someone else's imagination.
20:26All right, Jeff, great comment.
20:27Thank you for that.
20:28Other comments?
20:29Please come now.
20:31KM5F.
20:32I will.
20:33KM5F.
20:33Go ahead.
20:33Yeah, kind of a follow-up from what Jeff was saying.
20:38I have a note here that says, men worship things so obviously below them.
20:43Well, basically, they're worshiping things that they can control, not things that control them.
20:49KM5F.
20:50Yeah, well said, Will.
20:52Well, yeah, when people make up their own gods, then that God suits them, that God pleases them, that God does what they want that God to do, and that God is who they want him to be.
21:05And, yes, they create gods that are beneath them, gods they define, and therefore gods they control.
21:12And the problem there is that all idol worship is really self-worship, because the person winds up being the highest source of authority.
21:21The person winds up being the sovereign one, because the person gets to define who God is and what God's like and what God does.
21:29And so, yes, all idol worship is really the worship of self, because we are in that position of highest authority to define who God is.
21:44Great comment, Will.
21:45Thanks for pointing that out.
21:46All right, other comments.
21:47Please come down.
21:51AK6OK again.
21:53AK6OK.
21:53Jeff, go ahead.
21:54You know, here's something I just read, a Passover connection.
21:59Scholars in Christian tradition note that Psalm 115 was likely among the hymns sung by Jesus and his disciples during the Last Supper before heading to the Mount of Olives.
22:11What do you think of that one?
22:13I think that's probably true.
22:14Mark, our good friend KJ7PVT, has pointed out repeatedly that these are called the Halal Psalms.
22:22I think it's 113 through 117, and maybe through 118.
22:29I'm not sure Mark can correct me on that.
22:32But these are songs that were sung at the feasts, okay?
22:36And so we know that Jesus at the Last Supper, they were celebrating Passover, right?
22:40So they would have been singing these psalms from 113 on to 117, I believe it is.
22:52And so I think that's highly probable.
22:56It says that when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives, and it says that in the Gospels, right?
23:01So, yes, I think that's the correct supposition.
23:04Mark, KJ7PVT, can you correct me there?
23:07Go ahead, please.
23:08No, I don't need to correct anyone there.
23:12That's the information that I have as well, Max.
23:17So, great summary.
23:18Good job, Jeff.
23:22That's really good.
23:23One other thing I guess I'll add to it.
23:26You know, it is Psalm 113 through 118.
23:32And so we've got a couple more to go.
23:35I've got three more.
23:36This is 115.
23:37So we've got three more to go of these psalms that are used during the Feast of Passover, the Feast of Pentecost, the Feast of Tabernacles, and Dedication.
23:52I have a commentary that says the very same thing here, that our Lord probably sung this during that time as he and his disciples commemorated the Passover.
24:07So, yeah, that's kind of fun to know.
24:09So, it's that this is something that the Lord's probably saying.
24:15So, a couple, one other point here, Max.
24:21We're not told who the writer is.
24:24And I think I'm probably saying what you've already said here, but it's felt that it was written by someone who was celebrating the remnant's return from Babylonian captivity.
24:37And it can be divided into three stanzas.
24:42This is what the general understanding is.
24:46And I think we can pick these out as we read it.
24:49But it can be divided into three stanzas.
24:52The first stanza is the congregation is singing.
24:56That's verses 1 through 8.
24:59And then the second one is the Levites are singing.
25:03And that's verses 9 through 11.
25:07And then three, the congregation comes back.
25:11Verses 12 through 18.
25:14That is what some commentaries have.
25:18And that's what the commentary that I'm reading here has to say.
25:22So, that might add a little bit more understanding to this.
25:30And again, we're also in the Deuteronomy section that lasts from Psalms 107 to 150.
25:41So, we're in the very last section of the Pentateuch of the Book of Psalms.
25:51So, there's a lot going on here in this Book of Psalms.
25:55And it's wonderful to read the Psalms and then also have some of the background of the hows and the whys and who's and all the rest of that.
26:07Thanks, Max, for letting me talk here.
26:13A little lengthy.
26:15And back to you, Max.
26:16KJ7 TV.
26:19All right, Mark.
26:20KJ7 TV.
26:21T picked you up on the Half Moon Day SDR.
26:23For those of you who couldn't hear Mark, he was saying that Psalm 113 to 118 are the Hallelujah Psalms.
26:30And they were sung during Passover, Pentecost, Tabernacles, and Dedication, those four feasts.
26:37He was saying that this psalm was probably written by those who were returning from captivity out of Babylon for those 70 years.
26:47He did mention that this psalm is an antiphonal psalm, which means that different groups were singing different parts.
26:54So the congregation was singing Psalm 115, verses 1 to 8, and then the Levites would sing Psalm 115, verses 9 to 11.
27:02And the congregation then would sing the next section, verses 12 to 18.
27:08And so it's often the case that one group would sing and then another group would sing.
27:12And he was also mentioning that this psalm is in the Deuteronomy section of the Book of Psalms.
27:18And so that's the section of Psalm 107 to 150.
27:22So thank you for that information there, Mark, KJ7PVT.
27:29And yes, these psalms were being sung by Jesus and the disciples because they were, of course, celebrating the Feast of Passover.
27:40And these were the psalms, 113 to 118, that were sung at that feast.
27:44All right, other comments on our passage?
27:46Please come down.
27:47ZXN.
27:48ZXN, go ahead.
27:49KJ7PVT, really good thoughts and comments from everyone.
27:55And another thing I wanted to consider here, too, is the response here, where this is coming from a little bit.
28:04You know, the provocation is, you know, where is your God?
28:08The nations will say, where is your God?
28:10And it's kind of the same mockery or challenge, if you will, from, like, Psalm 42 or, you know, stated in Psalm 79.
28:18But he spends the rest of the psalm addressing this.
28:23And the first point made is God is not absent.
28:28He's, first of all, where he should be.
28:31He's in the heavens.
28:32He's present where he is in his holy place.
28:38But also, he's also a sovereign God.
28:42And he decides when and where he does.
28:47So he's in a place where he should be, where he resides.
28:51And he is a sovereign God.
28:54And that also sets the premise of, you know, recognizing, acknowledging his glory.
29:03And then, of course, they launch into the fallacy of idolatry and the emptiness and the futility of idolatry throughout the rest of the psalm.
29:16And, of course, we see vivid examples of it throughout the text here.
29:22But, you know, idolatry takes a lot of forms, and we've had conversations about that.
29:27It might be worth to visit some of those again, too.
29:30But in the context here of these nations idolatries, as you pointed out, Max, earlier in the introduction, items fashioned by hand.
29:39You might have the finest materials, the finest gold, the finest wood, but it's still nothing but a created substance fashioned into maybe something quite beautiful and quite unique.
29:53But it has no power to benefit you whatsoever.
29:57And it is certainly not going to save you.
30:00I was reminded, I think, of a pastor I knew that used to talk about his first missionary trip over to India, and where idolatry is quite present.
30:12And he had the opportunity to speak to a few men, and one in particular early on, and one not long after arriving there and sharing the gospel with him.
30:23Well, this man just openly and gladly received the gospel, so he thought.
30:29And he thought that was a good start, so he followed up with him a day or two later and said, well, what came to visiting Mattis' house is what it was.
30:41And he still saw all these idols all over his mantle.
30:45And he says, well, I thought you accepted Christ as your Savior.
30:48He said, oh, I did.
30:49I put him up here.
30:51You know, I fashioned a little idol and put him up here on the mantle with my other gods.
30:56Well, that's not how it works.
30:59As we know.
31:01And so he did eventually lead him to the Lord and the proper understanding.
31:08And those other idols did leave the house on his own choosing there.
31:15But anyway, yes, this is just a kind of perspective.
31:21As we see here now today, there'll be so, well, where's your God?
31:25Where's Jesus?
31:26Why is he letting all this suffering happen?
31:28Why isn't he taking action?
31:31Well, God is where he is supposed to be, and he is a sovereign God.
31:35And he's not idle by any means.
31:38And, you know, he's not slow and slackness goes.
31:45KB 7, Zennick 7.
31:46Yeah, Kevin, really well said.
31:48Thank you for pointing out that illustration.
31:51People want to add God to all their other gods just to cover all their bases.
31:57No, Jesus says, I am the way, the truth, and the life.
32:00And no man comes to the Father but through me.
32:04And then, of course, the first commandment says, I am the Lord thy God.
32:07Thou shalt know other gods before me.
32:11So well said.
32:12Yeah, we worship one God alone.
32:16That's the God of the Bible.
32:17One God in three persons, the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, the doctrine of the Trinity, as we all are aware.
32:25And that's the God that we worship.
32:27And we worship no other God.
32:29And it's not God plus other gods.
32:32It's God only.
32:35And, you know, I think, Kevin, what's kind of behind, you know, verse 2 and 3,
32:42wherefore should the heathen say, now where is their God?
32:47And what the heathen could do is they could point at their gods.
32:50They could say, see that statue right there in that temple?
32:55You see that?
32:56That's God.
32:57Now, we can't see your God.
32:59Where is your temple?
33:00Where is your idol?
33:02And since you don't have any visible representations of your God, therefore, you don't have a God.
33:11And the fallacy, of course, is thinking that God has to be visible, tangible, and physical.
33:17But we know God is a spirit.
33:19And we who worship him, worship him in spirit and in truth.
33:22So, you're right, where is our God?
33:24Right where he's always been, invisible, our Father who art in heaven, he's in heaven, and yet he's omnipresent.
33:34He's all around us and even dwells inside believers.
33:38And so, therefore, our God is everywhere.
33:43He certainly has his focus of operations in heaven.
33:48And so, just because we can't see him doesn't mean he doesn't exist.
33:54And, in fact, God did come down in visible form in the person of Jesus 2,000 years ago in the incarnation.
34:02So, we have a verbal description of our God in the scriptures, both the Father who is invisible and the Son who is visible during that 33 years he was here on earth and for a little bit of time after his ascension or after his resurrection.
34:20So, well said, Kevin.
34:23Thank you for that.
34:24All right.
34:24Any other comments?
34:25Please come down.
34:28AK-604.
34:29Okay.
34:30We have a follow-up and we have an AK.
34:32So, follow-up, go first, and then we'll grab AK.
34:35Yeah, just briefly, too.
34:37And, you know, where is God?
34:38What is he doing now?
34:40And, well, reminded, God is still saving souls.
34:45You know, before he comes, we pray that we're keeping and following his commission, our marching orders to share the gospel with others.
34:58You know, we had a missionary that's been spending many years in China and came back for a period of time, but is going back.
35:06But he was saying that there is a million people, what was it, a million people a month that are giving their lives to the Lord in China.
35:17We know there's people in Iran every day turning to Christ.
35:22We know there's people in northern, you know, Nigeria as well converting from radical Islam to Christ.
35:30But we know also in our neighborhoods, in our Bible studies, in our church, and maybe, you know, from witnesses that you and I take time to share with others in our own little groups,
35:49in our own little opportunities, are not so little because God is still saving people to stay here amongst us as well.
35:57So, God is not idle.
35:58He's certainly not absent.
36:00We might not see some of the great acts of God as we might see at times as he chooses to see.
36:09But I think you're pointing to Christ again, too, Max.
36:12It's so important because he did come.
36:17He did give himself a ransom on the cross.
36:20He did rise from the grave.
36:21And he did open his arms to receive all those that will call upon his name and give the gift of salvation.
36:30So, let us all turn away from him because he is still active in working in the lives of us and those around us every day.
36:39KB7, does that accept it?
36:41Well said, Kevin.
36:42Thank you for that.
36:43Yeah.
36:44God is active.
36:45He is busy.
36:46He's working miracles every day as people are brought out of darkness and into light.
36:53As their heart of stones are removed and they're given heart of flesh, they are regenerated, born again, new creations in Christ, resurrected from spiritual death to spiritual life.
37:03God's busy, God's active, and God is saving people around the world.
37:07And so, that's what he is seeing.
37:09God is seeing in his work.
37:12And so, you know, just like if you find an Indian arrowhead, that arrowhead tells you that there was someone that made that.
37:20And that person was wise and skilled in that craft.
37:24Well, when we see God saving people all around the world constantly, we know that the God who does that saving is an amazing God.
37:34So, thank you for that.
37:35Appreciate pointing that out.
37:37All right.
37:37We had a comment from Jeff.
37:39AK6OK.
37:39Jeff, please go ahead.
37:42Yeah.
37:42Good morning.
37:43Interesting follow-up.
37:45We have to all remember what our idols are.
37:49And I've been thinking about this because just of myself.
37:52I have so many radios.
37:55And, you know, I think about the old TS940.
37:58That's a great radio.
37:59But, you know, recently we got a Flex 8600.
38:02Is that my God now?
38:04Is that what I covet after?
38:08Is that what I bow down to?
38:10And we all have this stuff going on.
38:12But we've got to remember where all this stuff came from.
38:15And who is the owner of all of this stuff?
38:17And how do we use it?
38:19Do we use it for ministry?
38:20And in this case, gee, I'm blessed.
38:23I do get to use some of this stuff for ministry.
38:26But we've got to sit down and really think about what is our idol besides God?
38:32And where do they come from?
38:33And who does it belong to?
38:35Max, over.
38:36Well said, Jeff.
38:37Thank you for that.
38:39You know, idols can take lots of different forms.
38:43And, you know, the way we know who our God is is by the answer to this question, what has the highest authority in my life?
38:52Because the definition of God is the one who has the highest authority.
38:57That's who we worship.
38:58That's who we obey.
39:00That's who we follow.
39:01That's who we trust.
39:03For some people, their highest source of authority is civil government.
39:07And they worship civil government as their God.
39:11For other people, it's their possessions.
39:13They'll sacrifice everything for their possessions.
39:16For some people, it's family.
39:18They'll sacrifice every principle for family.
39:20And what we need to recognize is Jesus said, you know, who is my mother and who is my father?
39:27Those who hear the word of God and who do it.
39:30And so, yeah, we need to be careful that we're not worshiping our possessions.
39:34We're not worshiping other people.
39:37We're not worshiping ourselves.
39:40None of those things take the highest authority in our life.
39:45We sacrifice all of that to God's will.
39:49And that's what Jesus said in the Garden of Gethsemane, right?
39:52Nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done.
39:55And what he was doing is saying, I'm worshiping and following my father.
39:59He's the one that I'm going to obey.
40:01And it doesn't matter what I want.
40:03It doesn't matter what other people want.
40:04It doesn't matter what the possessions are.
40:07What matters is God and God alone.
40:09And that dovetails right into our psalm here, Jeff, where it says in verse 9,
40:18O Israel, trust thou in the Lord.
40:21Verse 10, O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord.
40:25Verse 11, you that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord.
40:29So he is our help and our shield, okay?
40:32And so he's the sole object of our trust, and he's the sole authority that's in our lives.
40:40And that becomes, therefore, we can say that he is our God.
40:45So, yep, got to watch out for idols.
40:47They can take lots of forms.
40:49But we need to realize that God alone is the ultimate and final authority,
40:56and he's the one who determines what we do.
40:59He's the one in whom we trust alone for the forgiveness of our sins
41:05and for our reconciliation with God through the saving work of his son, Jesus Christ.
41:10Jeff, great comment.
41:11Thanks for bringing out that practical illustration of what could be an idol in someone's life
41:18where we get proud of our possessions and start pointing to them
41:21instead of proud of our God and pointing to him.
41:25All right, any other comments?
41:26Please come down.
41:27KJ7, PBT.
41:29PBT, Mark, please go ahead.
41:31Yes, there are some really good answers to the question,
41:35where is your God?
41:37Why isn't he handling all of this?
41:40And on and on it goes.
41:42And we have some good answers to that.
41:45We've got Colossians 1, 17, and we also have Hebrews 1, 3, among many others.
41:54Just as an introduction to this, we've got the laws of gravity that are holding us on this planet.
42:03And we'll get into that in a bit here.
42:08But there are many things that are going on behind the scenes that people don't give God credit for.
42:15And so in Colossians 1, 7, it says,
42:19He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
42:24That's a simple sentence, but there's a whole lot to that one sentence.
42:31He is holding all things together.
42:34We've got atoms.
42:35If we have atoms and we split those atoms, we get things like atomic bombs.
42:40We've got little, little, tiny things that are held together.
42:44Nobody knows how that is held together, but he does.
42:48The Apostle Paul explains that Jesus acts as the cohesive force of the universe.
42:56He doesn't just launch the world and walk away.
42:59Everything continues to exist and function in a proper order because of this ongoing active presence.
43:07And then Hebrews 1, 3, this verse emphasizes that he accomplished this by the power of his own words.
43:20It says, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.
43:26That's Hebrews 1, 3.
43:27So we can go on and on, but we can see very, very quickly that everything that is going on in this world,
43:38and it doesn't matter what it is, everything held together is being directed in a certain direction
43:47and has meaning because God has identified that meaning,
43:58and he is the one that keeps it going in the direction that he does what he wants.
44:04Back to you, Max, KJ7CVT.
44:09Mark, great comment.
44:10Appreciate that.
44:11For those of you who couldn't hear Mark, in answer to the question, where is your God?
44:15The answer is, he's running the universe.
44:19That's where he is.
44:20And Mark pointed out Colossians 1, 17, and Hebrews 1, 3, in which it says,
44:26he is before all things, and by him all things consist,
44:30and he upholds all things by the word of his power.
44:33So, you know, we have four forces in the universe.
44:39We've got gravity.
44:40We've got electromagnetism.
44:42We've got the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force.
44:46And Mark was just pointing out that all of this power that makes everything work and runs everything is the power of God.
44:53Where is God?
44:54God is exercising his power in upholding and running the universe,
44:59and that power is seen in those four fundamental forces that are in the universe,
45:05none of which we can explain or define or understand or cause.
45:13And so, you know, when people say, where is your God?
45:18He is upholding all things by the word of his power, including you.
45:22As it says in Acts 17, in him we live and move and have our being.
45:28And if he wasn't upholding us, we would just instantly go back to nothing.
45:33You know, God spoke us into existence out of nothing.
45:37He upholds that existence by the word of his power.
45:40And if he were to ever withdraw that, we would go back into nothing.
45:43And that's the same way with the entire created universe.
45:46So where is God?
45:47He's running the universe.
45:49That's where he is.
45:50And we see his power all throughout that universe in those forces that hold it together and make it operate.
45:58And as Mark was saying, when you break a tiny atom apart, you get things like atomic bombs,
46:03which are a manifestation of the power of God that's being exercised,
46:07a tiny manifestation of it in holding the universe together.
46:10Mark, great comment.
46:12All right, other comments.
46:13Oh, wait, we are out of time.
46:15Wow.
46:15Okay.
46:16We always try to stop about 640, and we are past our time.
46:21We have to stop here.
46:22Great psalm, by the way.
46:25And so verse 15 goes along with what Mark said.
46:30You are blessed of the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
46:35The heaven and the heaven of the heavens are the Lord's, but the earth has he given to the children of men.
46:42The good news is there is that God has created the world for us.
46:48And as Mark was saying, that's the manifestation of where God is.
46:52We see God in the gifts he's given to us, the existence he provides us with, and the power he exercises to make it all work.
47:00On top of that, we have the Bible, we have the gift of his son Jesus, we have his transforming power in people's lives.
47:09And so bottom line is, folks, God's fingerprints are all over everything, both the material universe as well as humanity,
47:17and his saving grace and transforming work.
47:20And that's where our God is seen, is in his works of creation, in his works of providence, and in his works of redemption.
47:29All right, we are done.
47:30It is time for us to go to prayer.
47:32Before Jerry AE70R closes in prayer, are there any final prayer requests?
47:37Please go ahead.
47:39Five Yankees?
47:40Five Yankees, go ahead.
47:41Yeah, I'd like to bring up John chapter 1, verse 3.

47:59Amen.

54:51Dave, I saw you there a long time ago and I failed to check you in.
54:55I apologize for that.
54:56All right, we got Dave, KE7WKI checked in.
55:00He's been there for a long time on the Utah ISDR.
55:02All right, WB7MAX here, net control for the West Coast Bible Study.
55:07I do want to thank all the stations who did check in, especially Rick, KC6ART.
55:12First time check-in today.
55:14Rick, thanks for being with us.
55:15Also, I'd like to thank all the stations who stood by to give us a clear operating frequency.
55:22We meet here seven days a week at 6 a.m. in order to read the scriptures, understand their meaning, message, and application,
55:29and then to pray for grace and mercy to be able to live out what we've learned
55:33and for God to meet the needs of those that are in our circle of fellowship.
55:38I'll be returning this frequency now to regular amateur use.
55:41This is WB7MAX.
55:43I'll be clear and standing by.
55:46This is N7DIT.
55:49N7DIT.
55:50Candy, how are you doing?
55:52I'm good.
55:53Sorry I missed check-in time, but I just wanted to say how fun it was to see you and Kathy in Walla Walla.
56:01And I was also going to see if I could get in touch with Roger.
56:07He's up at the range.
56:08I didn't know if he checked in today or not.
56:12Yeah, your frequency is starting to wander a little bit there at the last candy, so check that.
56:17But, yeah, Roger, WB7VZL, did check in from Colville, Washington.
56:22He said that it was 31 degrees, and he was going to go get bundled up.
56:28And so, Roger, WB7VZL, are you on frequency?
56:32Go ahead.
56:32I am.
56:36I just turned the amp back on.
56:39Yeah, Candy's rolling in here with a great signal, too.
56:43Good morning, Candy.
56:45Shall we, Max, I think we'll slip over to 70, if that, well, excuse me, 80.
56:53Candy, how about 80?
56:54Over.
56:55Sounds great.
56:56Thank you so much.
56:57Thank you, Max.
56:59All right.
57:00That's N7DIT and WB7VZL.
57:03They're QSY over to 3980.
57:06All right.
57:06Real good.
57:07Other comments?
57:08Please come now.
57:18I have one, but I was waiting to see if Beck had a joke, KT-6J.
57:22I'm sure Beck has this joke, but, Jerry, we want to hear from you.
57:25Go ahead.
57:27Well, I thought about sharing this during the net, but I decided it was going out in left
57:32field, because I do that frequently.
57:35I spend a lot of time out there.
57:37So God doesn't, my belief, God doesn't appreciate being tested.
57:43And, like, with Gideon's fleece.
57:48We're not to put out fleeces.
57:50But more specifically, God did set up a test in 1 Kings 18, where Elijah set this up, and
58:01we were dealing with an evil king, Ahab, and they brought all the prophets to Baal, I think
58:08450 of them, and they built an altar, put a sacrifice on it, and poured water on it
58:15twice, soaking it.
58:17And then they said, okay, Baal, take your shot.
58:20And they were cutting themselves and doing all kinds of horrible stuff, trying to get
58:26Baal to do this.
58:28And, of course, we all know that failed.
58:31But when God was asked to light the fire, not a problem.
58:34So it's just an example of one place in the Bible where God wanted, he was trying to do
58:42something with that group of people at that time, that specifically.
58:47So back to you, Pastor Max.
58:50Yeah, Jerry, a great comment.
58:52Thank you for bringing that up.
58:54You know, there are three great epochs of miracles in the history of humanity.
59:01There was a group of miracles around the time of Moses and the Exodus.
59:08You remember the ten plagues and all the things God did during the Exodus in bringing them into
59:15the Promised Land.
59:16And then there was a long period where there weren't hardly any miracles.
59:20And then we have another massive grouping of miracles around the time of Elijah and Elisha.
59:26And this was an effort to be a witness to Israel so that she would not go into apostasy and go
59:34into captivity.
59:35And, of course, we know that they ignored that and continued to sin and wound up going
59:42into the Babylonian captivity.
59:44And then there was a huge grouping of miracles around the time of Jesus and the apostles.
59:50And so each of these epochs of groupings, of miracles, were done at a point in history in
60:01order to provide the authentication that God is the true God and that these people that
60:08are performing these miracles are his true representatives and spokesmen.
60:12And so Israel had been in captivity to the Egyptians for like 400 years, right?
60:17And Moses shows up and says, I'm here to represent God.
60:21And it's like, oh, yeah?
60:22Who is this God and who are you?
60:25And so the miracles were designed to reacquaint Israel with their true God and that Moses was
60:32his spokesman.
60:33And in the same way, Israel had fallen into idols so badly under the period of the divided
60:38kingdom where you had, you know, Israel, the northern kingdom, Judah, the southern kingdom,
60:43and they had these horrible kings and these horrible idols.
60:48And Elijah and Elisha show up and it's like, here's who your God is.
60:53And we are his spokesmen and we are calling you to turn from these idols to the true and
60:59living God.
61:00And then, of course, Jesus shows up after, you know, 400 years of intertestamental period
61:06where there wasn't even any revelation, any new revelation, much less miracles.
61:10And then we see Jesus showing up and demonstrating that here's who God is and I am his son.
61:20And, of course, the apostles.
61:23And then, of course, we go through a long period of time since Jesus and the apostles where there's
61:28virtually no miracles.
61:29And I'm not saying there weren't some miracles between these epochs, but they weren't the norm.
61:34They were the exception.
61:35Just like today, God can do some miracles, but they're not the norm.
61:39But they're the exception.
61:41We know that in the last days, Jerry, that when Antichrist arises and all the false prophets,
61:46there's going to be a whole bunch of counterfeit miracles that are done that are going to draw
61:52people away.
61:54So that's kind of the story about testing God.
61:57There were periods in history where God said, okay, I will prove who I am.
62:03There are periods in history where God is saying, believe my revelation, believe my ordinary
62:10workings, and put your faith in my son.
62:15So, you know, people say, oh, you know, we don't have any miracles today, so God must have
62:21gone away or died or something.
62:23The miracles that are recorded in history are still valid miracles, are still valid proofs
62:29of the existence of God.
62:30It's like I had a guy say to me the other day, well, you know, we need apostles in order
62:34to answer our questions and tell us what to do next.
62:37And it's like, no, I've got 12 apostles that I can listen to any time I want.
62:42I just open the Bible and read what they say.
62:45They answer all the questions.
62:47And so, you know, I don't need miracles today.
62:50I've got a ton of them already recorded in the scriptures that prove to me who God is
62:55and what his power is and who his spokesmen are and what his will is.
63:00So, Jerry, that's some perspective on what's going on there and why those things occurred
63:06during that time in history.
63:07Back to you, Jerry, KG6J, WV7MX.
63:10What an awesome group of information, illumination, and I took some notes while you were doing
63:19that or giving me that and so greatly appreciated.
63:23Yeah, someone that wants to see miracles today, well, it's based on faith for today.
63:30And I completely agree.
63:32God does still do miracles, but they're more behind the scenes and they're not flashy,
63:39not designed to make everyone stand up and notice.
63:44Our faith is our faith, and it's based on faith.
63:48And part of that faith is in the Word as well, that I can trust it and that it has not been
63:55corrupted like some people would say.
63:57I've had people in my life tell me, well, the church, they manipulated what the Word says.
64:03I don't believe that.
64:04God protects His Word.
64:05And through the translations, they may not be perfect, but they're good enough for His
64:11purposes.
64:13And that was some of that letting go of the New Age stuff that I've spoken of.
64:17Anyway, I have to get to work, but I thank you so much for that.
64:22KG6J, and wishing everyone a blessed day.
64:25Thanks again, Pastor Max, so much.
64:28All right, Jerry.
64:28KG6J, 73 to you, and have a great day at work.
64:32WB7MAX, standing by here.
64:34Anybody want to chat, throw out your call for it.
64:42Morning, Max.
64:43Running barefoot.
64:44Hopefully it's good enough until this amp warms up.
64:46But I made it back from the airport.
64:48I wasn't capable of listening.
64:51All right.
64:51Good night.
64:51Hearing Room, we are going to be inexistent.
64:53Thank you.
64:53All right.
