Psalm 122: Joy in the House of the Lord

The Bible reading

Psalm 122

The study focused on Psalm 122, identified as a pilgrim psalm sung by Jews traveling to Jerusalem for the three annual feasts. The discussion highlighted the joy of corporate worship and the inseparable connection between the city of Jerusalem, the temple, and the presence of God in the Old Covenant. Participants drew parallels to the New Covenant, where the local church serves as the new temple and the body of believers as the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.

Key themes included the meaning of 'peace' (shalom) in the psalm, interpreted not just as the absence of war but as political stability that allows for free worship and spiritual reconciliation with God. The group discussed how the physical journey to Jerusalem foreshadows the spiritual journey to the New Jerusalem in the new heavens and new earth, where believers will gather in perfect fellowship.

The session also connected the psalm to the life of Jesus, noting that his family traveled to Jerusalem for feasts and that significant prophetic events, such as the presentation of Jesus and the encounter with Simeon, occurred during these visits. The study concluded with a reminder that while individual salvation is essential, believers are called to maintain corporate fellowship and avoid a 'lone ranger' mentality by engaging with local churches.

Insights

  • The ease of modern transportation to church contrasts with the arduous physical journeys of Old Testament pilgrims, suggesting that greater convenience should lead to greater frequency of worship.
  • Political peace is a prerequisite for the free practice of faith, linking the biblical command to pray for kings and authorities to the ability to worship without fear of violence.
  • The 'one and the many' theological concept emphasizes that while salvation is individual, believers are immediately baptized into a collective body, making corporate fellowship essential rather than optional.
  • The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in believers makes them the new temple, shifting the focus from a physical location to the community of faith, which is why persecution often targets house churches and assemblies.
  • The joy expressed in Psalm 122 should be replicated in the modern believer's heart every Sabbath morning, viewing the local church as the house of God.
  • The historical context of Jerusalem's judgment, as seen in Jeremiah, underscores the importance of listening to God's words and maintaining righteousness to avoid national reproach.

4:39First of all.
4:40Yeah, I'm doing well.
4:42Thank you for asking.
4:43God's good, and I'm grateful, and we are digging out from underneath all of our flooding damage just one day at a time.
4:54So that's interesting, and we appreciate you being there.
4:58How are you guys doing?
5:01Doing well.
5:02My wife has got, like I said, my wife's got good news.
5:04It's stable.
5:08The aneurysm is stable.
5:10They're going to just monitor it, and if it grows any bigger, then we'll decide what we're going to do.
5:16But she's doing real well.
5:18I thank everybody for the prayers.
5:21I've got a prayer.
5:22I've got a prayer for another friend of mine.
5:25Actually, a cousin of mine who passed away.
5:27Okay, so you had a cousin who passed away.
5:32What is his name so he can pray for his family?
5:34His name is Michael Shantzoni.
5:37He's actually a pastor in East Florida.
5:41His wife's name is Angela, and I'd appreciate you.
5:45It's a good thought.
5:47It's actually going to be tomorrow, and unfortunately, we can't go because it's in Florida.
5:53But we grew up together as children, and we were the two black sheep of the family.
5:57And we grew up pretty close.
5:59Anyway, thank you.
6:00I appreciate the prayer.
6:02All right, real good, Al.
6:03You bet.
6:04I'm glad to hear your wife's doing better.
6:05We will pray for Michael's family, especially his wife, Angela, and her sorrow in the loss of her husband.
6:14So, anyway, was Michael a believer in Christ?
6:17Over.
6:18Michael was a pastor.
6:20He was a pastor at his church.
6:21Yes.
6:22He was a pastor.
6:23He got me.
6:26He got me.
6:27I did.
6:30Okay.
6:31Well, praise the Lord for that.
6:32So, yeah, Michael was a pastor who passed away into the arms of Jesus.
6:36Praise the Lord for that.
6:37All right, real good, Al.
6:38Thank you for those updates.
6:40Really appreciate that.
6:41All right.
6:42WB7MX here.
6:43Look for check-ins.
6:44Please come now.
6:44Sorry, one more thing.
6:47I'm sorry to interrupt.
6:48He did say a week before he passed, not knowing of the illness he had, that he was ready to meet Jesus.
6:56And little do you know, he had a stroke the next week and went to him.
7:03Yeah, yeah, okay.
7:05That was a little garbled, Michael.
7:07You're a little weak, so I wasn't quite able to pick that up.
7:09But, Michael, I'm talking to Al.
7:14Michael's the guy who died.
7:15I've been writing names here down, Al.
7:17Hey, Al, could you please get on QRZ and grab my e-mail address off of there and send me an e-mail.

9:06All right.
9:06WB-7MAX here, Net Control for the West Coast Bible Study.
9:10We are in Psalm 122 today.
9:13But before we get started with Psalm 122, we want to open our time together in prayer.
9:18And so, Eric, KD70S, if you could open in prayer for us.
9:21We'd appreciate that.
9:21Go ahead there, brother.
9:24Okay.
9:24Thank you.
9:26Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for your word.
9:30And we know in your word it's truth and life, and we thank you for that.
9:40We ask, Lord, that you would just give us eyes to see, that we may understand and have wisdom concerning your word.
9:51And that you would give us ears to hear, that we would understand and know your word.
9:59And, Lord, we just ask for wisdom.
10:02And, Father, we just thank you for this group today, and we just ask that you just bless them.
10:09And we ask that you bless Pastor Max as he leads us to the word.
10:15And we just give you glory.
10:18In Jesus' name, amen.
10:21Amen.
10:21Thank you so much for that prayer.
10:23All right.
10:23George has now joined us.
10:25George K1KOY got you down into the ham bands here.
10:29You're up around 4022 there for a while.
10:31But now you're on 3975, where you belong.
10:35All right.
10:35We got you lassoed and tied to the post, George.
10:38You can't get away.
10:40K1KOY.
10:41All right.
10:42We are in Psalm.
10:43Thank you so much for that prayer, by the way, Eric.
10:45Really appreciate that.
10:47We are in Psalm 122.
10:49And before Jerry reads that, I want to talk a little bit about this psalm.
10:55And so this psalm is one of the pilgrim psalms.
10:58You'll notice at the top of each of these psalms here in this section, it says a song of degrees.
11:04And this one in particular says a song of degrees of David.
11:08So this psalm is one of the pilgrim psalms.
11:12And the pilgrim psalms were those which were sung as the Jews traveled up to Jerusalem from their homes in order to worship God at the temple.
11:22Now, as you recall, the old covenant required the Jews to travel up to Jerusalem three times a year to worship together as a nation before God.
11:33And so you can read about that in Exodus 23, Exodus 34, and Deuteronomy 16.
11:39And in those passages, God instructed the Jews to gather at the Tabernacle to celebrate the Feast of Passover, number one, the Feast of Pentecost, also called Firstfruits, number two, and then the Feast of Tabernacles.
11:54And that involved the full and final harvest of in-gathering as well as a celebration of the Exodus out of Egypt.
12:03Well, ultimately, what this meant is that all the Jews had to come to Jerusalem three times a year, because that's where David established the Tabernacle during his reign, and that's where Solomon built the temple during his reign.
12:17And so what this psalm does is it expresses the attitude of the godly Israelite as the time comes for going up to the feasts at Jerusalem.
12:28As his family and his friends and his neighbors say,
12:31Hey, it's time to go up to the house of God in Jerusalem to celebrate one of these three feasts,
12:37his heart would then leap with gladness as he thought upon the joy and blessedness of going up to worship God.
12:43And so this psalm expresses the delight that the godly Jew had in his personal worship, and, of course, in the unified national worship.
12:55It expresses his delight in what he felt about the temple and the blessedness of having the house and the presence of God in their midst.
13:04And then, finally, it expresses what the godly Jew felt about the city where the house of God dwelt.
13:11Now, in the mind of the godly Jew in the Old Testament, God and the house of God and the city of God were all one, inseparable reality.
13:22And to pray for Jerusalem and to rejoice in Jerusalem was to pray for and rejoice in the kingdom of God here on earth.
13:31And so Jerusalem was the city of God, which housed the temple of God, in which dwelt the special presence of God and the glory of God.
13:42And so those things couldn't be separated from one another, and these were never separated from each other in the mind of the godly Jew.
13:50Therefore, to go up to Jerusalem, to admire Jerusalem, to rejoice in Jerusalem, and to pray for Jerusalem was to express one's love and loyalty to God and his kingdom here on earth, which was centered in Jerusalem.
14:04And so to the godly Jew, going up to the house of God to worship God was the most delightful thing in his life, and it should be in ours as well.
14:11Every Sabbath morning, whether we worship on Saturday or Sunday, when we arise from bed and the household gathers, the thought of every heart should be,
14:20I am so glad to go to the house of God today.
14:24And so that's how we feel when the Lord's Day rolls around, and we're getting ready to go to our new covenant house of God, which is the local church.
14:35So anyway, a wonderful psalm about being glad to go to the place of the special presence of God, gather together with the people of God, and worship God.
14:47Well, this also hymn kind of foreshadows the time when we're all going to gather together in the new Jerusalem, in the new heavens and the new earth.
14:58So there's that focus as well.
15:00One day, we're going to stand within the gates of that holy city, the new Jerusalem, and there the saved of all the nations will gather to worship,
15:09and there will be a place of perfect joy, fellowship, justice, and closeness to God.
15:14All right, that's enough of an introduction to our psalm.
15:17Get the general idea of what it's about.
15:20And we're going to ask Jerry, KG6J.
15:22Jerry, if you would read for us, please, Psalm 122.
15:26Go ahead.
15:26Thank you, Pastor Max, KG6J.
15:30Psalm 122, reading from the new King James.
15:35I was glad when they said to me,
15:37Let us go into the house of the Lord.
15:40Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem.
15:45Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together.
15:50Where the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord,
15:54to the testimony of Israel,
15:57to give thanks to the name of the Lord.
16:01For thrones are set there for judgment,
16:04the thrones of the house of David.
16:08Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
16:10May they prosper, who love you.
16:16Peace be within your walls.
16:18Posterity within your palaces.
16:22For the sake of my brethren and companions.
16:25I will now say, peace be within you.
16:29Because of the house of the Lord, our God,
16:32I will seek your good.
16:35Psalm 122.
16:37KG6J.
16:38Back to you, Pastor Max.
16:39All right, Jerry, real good.
16:41Thank you for that reading.
16:42Much appreciated.
16:43All right, any comments on our psalm?
16:46Please come down at your call sign.
16:53WB7VZL.
16:55Roger.
16:56WB7VZL.
16:57Go ahead, brother.
16:57Yes, that last part that Jerry read for us.
17:04For I seek, and for the sake of my brothers,
17:07eight and nine, and my friends,
17:10I will say, may peace be with you.
17:13Shalom.
17:14For the sake of the house of the Lord, our God,
17:16I will seek your good.
17:18And one of the themes when you visit Jerusalem
17:21is pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
17:24It's quite an international city as far as religions now.
17:31And so there's room for a lot of pray without ceasing
17:38when you go to Jerusalem.
17:39Over.
17:41Yeah, copy that.
17:42And, you know, in the political peace of a nation,
17:46there is the peace of the believers
17:49to be able to freely practice their faith in Christ
17:55and their walk with God
17:57without being molested or fear of being attacked.
18:03You know, we hear reports all the time
18:05of our brethren around the world
18:07who are just worshiping in church
18:10and generally Muslim gunmen show up
18:13and just machine gun down the congregation
18:16or they throw a bomb inside the building
18:18or they set the building on fire.
18:22And you can imagine the difficulty of worshiping
18:25when there is that constant threat
18:27of political and physical violence.
18:31And so this whole idea of praying for the peace of Jerusalem
18:35is the idea of praying for the peace
18:37and protection of believers
18:39so that they can worship unmolested
18:42and free from fear to their God.
18:47And, you know, it reminds me of that passage in Timothy
18:49that says, you know, it's God's will
18:53that we pray for kings and all that are in authority
18:56so that we might lead a quiet and peaceful life
18:59in all godliness and honesty.
19:02And so in the peace of political structures
19:05is the freedom to be able to worship
19:09and serve God without being molested.
19:12And that is a great blessing.
19:15And, of course, since Israel was surrounded by enemies
19:17and she was constantly under the attack by enemies,
19:21to have these periods of peace
19:22where all Israel could go up to the temple to worship.
19:27I mean, imagine how empty the land was of fighting men
19:31when they all were in Jerusalem
19:33and how their houses and crops and lands were vulnerable.
19:37And how the enemy could have flooded in during those times
19:41and really taken advantage.
19:44And yet God said, I'll watch out for your stuff.
19:48You go up and worship.
19:49I'll take care of you.
19:51And so this prayer for peace in the land
19:54and in the city and among the people
19:56was a very real and compelling concern.
20:00And it was good to know that God was on guard
20:03and he's the sentry that was watching over his people
20:08as they were surrounded by those
20:10who would like nothing better
20:11than to bring destruction to them.
20:14Back to you there, Roger.
20:17Yeah, the history of Jerusalem is so rich,
20:21but unfortunately it's very rich in judgment.
20:24But I'm looking at Jeremiah 39
20:27and it's very, very serious
20:30where Jeremiah is told,
20:35go to speak to the Ethiopian saying,
20:37thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel,
20:40behold, I'm about to bring my words
20:43on this city for disaster and not for prosperity.
20:48And they will take place before you on that day.
20:52But I will deliver you on that day,
20:55declares the Lord,
20:56and you shall not be given into the hand of the men
20:59whom you dread, meaning Babylon,
21:03for I will certainly rescue you
21:05and you will not fall by the sword,
21:08but you will have your own life as booty
21:10because you have trusted in me, declares the Lord.
21:15So with all that history of God's judgment
21:19on this treasured city, the city of peace,
21:24how significant it is to listen to God's curses
21:30as well as blessings.
21:32And as this psalm highlights,
21:35it's only safe to keep on praying for peace
21:41in our hearts as well.
21:43Over.
21:43Yeah, well said, Roger.
21:45Really well said.
21:46Thanks for bringing in that parallel passage
21:48which illustrates the point so well.
21:50And yeah, you know, those who are loyal to God,
21:53God is loyal to them.
21:54And those who betray God,
21:56well then God stands back and says,
21:58okay, you don't want me and my protection.
22:01Here you go.
22:02You can be subject to the tender mercies
22:06of these pagan nations that are around you.
22:09So thanks for bringing out that point.
22:13The Bible says righteousness exalts the nation,
22:16but sin is a reproach to any people.
22:18And it says when the righteous rule,
22:20the people rejoice,
22:21but when the wicked rule,
22:22the people mourn.
22:23So, you know,
22:25while, you know,
22:26Christianity is not about building political kingdoms,
22:29Jesus made it clear,
22:31my kingdom is not of this world.
22:33If it were,
22:34then we would take up arms and fight.
22:36With Islam,
22:38their kingdom is of this world,
22:39and that's why they do take up arms and fight
22:42in the name of their religion.
22:44Our weapons,
22:45of course,
22:45are spiritual weapons.
22:46We use the sword of the spirit,
22:48which is the word of God
22:49and the shield of faith,
22:50et cetera.
22:52Nevertheless,
22:53Christianity is concerned with
22:55the political affairs of nations
22:57from the point of view that
22:59we want peace,
23:00we want stability,
23:01and we want freedom to worship God
23:04as the scriptures tell us to do.
23:06So we're not disengaged.
23:09We're not building political kingdoms.
23:11We're building the kingdom of God.
23:12But we certainly interface
23:14with political kingdoms,
23:16and we certainly care about
23:18the condition they're in.
23:19That's why we vote
23:20and do all the things we do politically,
23:23because that creates a framework,
23:26an environment,
23:27in which we can propagate
23:29the kingdom of God,
23:30which is our chief and central concern.
23:33Roger, excellent points.
23:34Thank you for bringing that out.
23:35All right.
23:36Anyone else want to comment on our psalm,
23:38please come down with your call sign.
23:42All right.
23:52While you're thinking,
23:52I want to comment on verse 1 and verse 9.
23:56You'll notice verse 1 says,
23:58I was glad when they said to me,
23:59let us go to the house of the Lord.
24:03And then verse 9,
24:04because of the house of the Lord our God,
24:06I will seek thy good.
24:08And so this psalm opens with the house of God,
24:12and it closes with the house of God.
24:14And it's all about the house of God.
24:17And so, you know,
24:19we're saved as individuals, right?
24:21And we all have our individual relationship with God,
24:25which is great.
24:27But we're also a collective body of people.
24:31We're connected with other believers.
24:35And God calls upon us to gather together in corporate worship,
24:40in the house of God,
24:42with the people of God.
24:44And, of course,
24:44under the old covenant,
24:45that was the temple.
24:47And under the new covenant,
24:48it's the local church,
24:50which is the new covenant temple,
24:52as you read about in 1 Peter 2,
24:56made up of living stones.
24:57And we're all priests
24:59and offer spiritual sacrifices
25:01of praise and worship and thanksgiving.
25:04And so we have this one and the many.
25:09The theologians use that terminology,
25:11the one and the many.
25:13The one is you as an individual.
25:14You are saved by Christ as a person.
25:17But then immediately,
25:191 Corinthians 12, 13,
25:20you're baptized into one body,
25:22whether Jew or Greek,
25:23whether bond or free.
25:24You've all been made to drink of one spirit.
25:26And so we're immediately joined together
25:29into a family,
25:30a covenant community of folks,
25:32together with which we worship.
25:35And that's why we're here together
25:37on the West Coast Bible Study,
25:38among other reasons,
25:40is to have that corporate fellowship
25:42and worship together
25:46and encouragement together
25:48with the people of God.
25:50And, of course,
25:51we get that
25:51in a much more elevated way
25:55in our local churches.
25:56So, you know,
25:58we need to maintain
25:59not just like a lone ranger mentality.
26:03Oh, me and God are my Bible.
26:06That's all I need.
26:07No, it isn't.
26:09You need other believers.
26:10You need fellowship.
26:11And in particular,
26:13you need to be in a local church.
26:15So if you can find
26:16a good local church to go to,
26:17I want to just encourage you
26:19to do that.
26:20All right.
26:20So let's open and close here
26:23with the house of God,
26:24as our psalm does.
26:26All right.
26:26Any other comments?
26:27Please come down.
26:27All right.
26:28All right.
26:44Well, you're a talkative bunch.
26:45While you're thinking,
26:49let me throw out
26:49another idea here.
26:51Verse 4.
26:53Well, it talks about Jerusalem
26:55in verse 2 and 3, right?
26:58Our feet shall stand
26:59within my gates,
26:59O Jerusalem.
27:01Verse 3.
27:02Jerusalem is a city
27:03that is compacted together.
27:05Now, here's my comment.
27:07Verse 4.
27:07So they had to go up.
27:16It was a journey.
27:17And the reason why it says up
27:18is because Jerusalem
27:20was on top of a mountain.
27:23Literally, Mount Zion
27:24was the highest peak there
27:27of the peaks
27:28that Jerusalem was built on.
27:30And the temple was sitting
27:31at the highest prominence.
27:34And so the people
27:35had to go up
27:37to Jerusalem vertically.
27:40And so the idea is
27:41we set our affections
27:42on things above
27:43and not on things of the earth.
27:44Right.
27:44Colossians chapter 3.
27:46But also,
27:47this involved a journey.
27:48I mean,
27:48there was some inconvenience
27:50to pack your stuff up
27:51and travel,
27:52most of them,
27:53I suppose,
27:54on foot,
27:55quite the distance.
27:56You know,
27:56could have been,
27:58you know,
27:5930, 40, 50,
28:0070 miles on foot.
28:03Imagine that.
28:04A couple of days
28:06to get there.
28:07It was a lot of work.
28:09And yet,
28:09here we are.
28:09We have our air-conditioned cars
28:11that we're sitting inside of
28:14with wheels and a motor.
28:15And it is a piece of cake
28:17to go to church these days
28:18compared to
28:20what they had to go through
28:21to go to the temple.
28:24And so,
28:25the easier it is,
28:26the more frequently
28:28we ought to be there
28:29and to be going up
28:32into,
28:33as it were,
28:34the presence of God
28:35to draw near to God.
28:37All right.
28:37Any other comments?
28:38Please come down.
28:43WB7, BZL?
28:45Roger, please go ahead.
28:47Well, I'm pondering here
28:49in the first part of Luke
28:51how significant
28:53in the story of Jesus.
28:54And it is the,
28:57Luke is a Gentile,
29:01never had that experience
29:03personally with his family
29:04from what I could understand.
29:06And so he,
29:08I think,
29:09is intrigued
29:09when he writes
29:11the gospel of Jesus
29:13that he's intrigued
29:15with highlighting
29:16what he had heard
29:17about when Jesus
29:19went up to Jerusalem
29:22with his parents
29:23when he was a baby.
29:26He encountered
29:27the prophet
29:29Hannah.
29:30Hannah.
29:31And then
29:31he encountered
29:33Simeon.
29:34And that incredible
29:35prophecy
29:36here.
29:39I'm thinking
29:40of Luke chapter 1.
29:44And,
29:44well,
29:46of course,
29:47we have Zechariah
29:48leading the way
29:48with his cousin
29:50and the prediction
29:52there.
29:53But in
29:54the birth of Jesus,
29:58that incredible prophecy
29:59and like in verse 29
30:01of Luke 2,
30:04the light of revelation
30:07to the Gentiles
30:09and then also
30:12that, you know,
30:13these all occurred
30:14when they went
30:16to Jerusalem.
30:17and then the marvelous
30:21section where Jesus
30:25responds to his mother
30:26also at a Passover,
30:29I believe,
30:30verse 49 of chapter 2
30:32of Luke's record.
30:34And he even records
30:36the quote of Jesus
30:37in 49.
30:38and he said
30:39to them,
30:39why is it
30:40that you are
30:41looking for me?
30:43Did you not
30:44know that I
30:45had to be
30:46in my father's
30:47house,
30:48my father's
30:49business?
30:51And so,
30:52this is,
30:53this is all
30:54taking place
30:55when,
30:57when they went
30:58to these very
30:59sacred moments
31:00in,
31:01in,
31:02at Zion.
31:03You know,
31:04as you say,
31:05the three times
31:06a year that
31:07were required.
31:08And I believe
31:08these were both
31:09Passover experiences.
31:12WB,
31:12some of these
31:13at all.
31:13Back to you, Max.
31:14Yeah, Roger,
31:15thank you for
31:16bringing out that
31:16connection in Luke
31:17chapter 2.
31:18Yeah, in verse 22
31:19of Luke 2,
31:21it says,
31:21when the days
31:22of her purification
31:23according to the
31:24law of Moses
31:24were accomplished,
31:25they brought
31:25Jesus to Jerusalem
31:27to present him
31:28to the Lord.
31:30As it is written
31:31in the law of Moses,
31:33every male that
31:34opens the womb
31:34shall be called
31:35holy to the Lord.
31:37And, of course,
31:38because they'd
31:38gone up to Jerusalem
31:39to obey God
31:40and to be in his
31:41house offering
31:43the worship
31:43that was appointed,
31:45they met Simeon,
31:46verse 25,
31:48and he gave
31:49this wonderful
31:50prophecy,
31:51and he said
31:54in verse 29,
31:55Lord,
31:55now let thy
31:56servant depart
31:56in peace
31:57according to thy
31:57word from mine
31:58eyes have seen
31:59thy salvation,
32:00which thou hast
32:01prepared before
32:01the face of
32:02all the people
32:03a light to light
32:03in the Gentiles
32:04and the glory
32:05of thy people
32:06Israel.
32:06So, because they
32:08were in the
32:09house of God
32:10doing the will
32:11of God,
32:12they received
32:13a word from God
32:14through this man
32:15Simeon,
32:16a wonderful prophecy.
32:18And then, of course,
32:19they met, as you said,
32:21Anna the prophet,
32:22and that's in
32:24verse 36,
32:25and she had
32:28this to say.
32:30She said,
32:31she coming in
32:33that instant
32:33gave thanks
32:34likewise to the
32:35Lord and spoke
32:35of him to all
32:37that looked for
32:37redemption in
32:38Jerusalem.
32:40So, because
32:40they're in the
32:41house of God,
32:42worshiping as
32:44God appointed,
32:46at the birth
32:46of Jesus,
32:48they receive
32:48these two
32:49wonderful messages.
32:50And I can't
32:52tell you how
32:52many times
32:53I've gone to
32:53church and
32:55heard a message
32:56from the Lord,
32:57from his word,
32:59from his people,
33:00from his pastors,
33:01that has lifted
33:02my spirits,
33:04reoriented my
33:05focus,
33:06and helped me
33:07to take that
33:09next step in
33:10my Christian life.
33:11And then you're
33:12right,
33:12verse 42,
33:13when he was
33:1412 years old,
33:15they went up to
33:15Jerusalem after the
33:17custom of the
33:18feast.
33:18And of course,
33:19now he's there
33:20and he's
33:21interacting with
33:22the Pharisees
33:23about the
33:24scriptures and
33:25the word of
33:25God.
33:26And they were
33:27all amazed at
33:28his level of
33:28knowledge.
33:29And then
33:30throughout the
33:31Gospels,
33:31various times we
33:33see Jesus going
33:34up to Jerusalem
33:34for the feast.
33:36And so,
33:37most of his
33:37time was spent
33:38in Galilee,
33:39up around the
33:39Sea of Galilee,
33:40Capernaum,
33:41in that area.
33:42But then three
33:43times a year he
33:43would travel down
33:44to Jerusalem and
33:45then back up to
33:46Galilee and down
33:47to Jerusalem and
33:48back up to
33:48Galilee.
33:49And a lot of
33:50his teaching and
33:51miracles were
33:52done on those
33:53journeys.
33:54So,
33:55yeah,
33:55this whole issue
33:57of Psalm 122
33:59was integral to
34:00the life of the
34:01Lord Jesus in
34:03terms of him not
34:04only obeying the
34:05scriptures regarding
34:06this issue and
34:07Mary and Joseph
34:07doing the same,
34:09but also in
34:10terms of how
34:11much ministry he
34:13was able to
34:14engage in and
34:15how much teaching
34:16he was able to
34:17give in the
34:17whole process of
34:19these trips.
34:20So,
34:21Roger,
34:21thank you for
34:21pointing out the
34:22connection of
34:23Psalm 122 with
34:25Jesus and with
34:26his life,
34:27the life of his
34:28parents and then
34:29the life of
34:29Christ himself.
34:31And how many
34:31stories do we
34:32have to tell about
34:34what God did for
34:35us and in us and
34:37through us as we
34:38gather together with
34:39the people of God
34:40for the appointed
34:41worship of God,
34:43as Psalm 122
34:44calls us to do.
34:45All right,
34:46other comments on
34:47our psalm,
34:47please come down.
34:53N7 GND.
34:54Mike,
34:55N7 GND,
34:55go ahead.
34:58Going back to
34:59verse 1,
35:01it says,
35:02I rejoiced with
35:03those who said to
35:03me,
35:04let's go to the
35:04house to the
35:05Lord.
35:05Let us go to the
35:06house of the
35:06Lord.
35:07So he didn't say
35:08that.
35:09There was other
35:09people saying,
35:10let us go to the
35:11house of the
35:12Lord, and the
35:13author is rejoicing
35:15about that.
35:16And that was a
35:17physical place.
35:20We don't have that
35:21physical place
35:22anymore.
35:24I go back to
35:24Hebrews chapter 12,
35:27verse 22.
35:29You know, you
35:30have come to
35:31Mount Zion, to
35:33the heavenly
35:34Jerusalem, city of
35:35the living God.
35:36You have come to
35:37thousands upon
35:37thousands of
35:38angels and
35:39joyful assembly, to
35:40the church of the
35:41firstborn.
35:42Those names are
35:43written in heaven.
35:44You have come to
35:44God, the judge of
35:46all men, to the
35:46spirits of righteous
35:47men, made perfect
35:48to Jesus, the
35:49mediator of a new
35:51covenant, to the
35:52sprinkled blood that
35:53speaks a better
35:54word than the
35:55blood of Abel.
35:56So the new
35:57Jerusalem is
35:58something that God
35:59is creating, and
36:00where I'm going
36:02with this is the
36:03Holy Spirit lives
36:04in us.
36:05We are the church
36:06of the living
36:06God.
36:07He's not
36:10residing in the
36:11physical place.
36:12He's residing in
36:13us.
36:14And I go back to
36:16verse 1, Psalm
36:18122, where people
36:20say to us, let's
36:21gather together, let's
36:22worship God.
36:24I want to rejoice in
36:26the heart of that
36:27and be glad, because
36:29God is not
36:29somewhere, He's in
36:31heaven, but He's
36:32dwelling within us,
36:34and that's why
36:35there's so much
36:36persecution of
36:37Christians, whether
36:38they're house
36:38churches or other
36:40assemblies, they
36:41know that that's
36:42where God is at,
36:43where those people
36:44are at.
36:46Anyway, it was
36:47interesting just
36:48trying to connect
36:49that from the
36:51type that David is
36:53looking at and
36:54talking about back
36:56in Psalm 122, in
36:58the future, that
37:00will be revealed on
37:01the New Jerusalem,
37:02Mount Zion, the
37:04heavenly Jerusalem.
37:07Anyway, I'm just
37:08pondering that and
37:09just thinking about
37:10that and hoping to
37:12some comments in
37:137G&E.
37:15Yeah, Mike, great
37:16comment.
37:17Thank you for
37:17bringing that
37:18connection out.
37:20Yeah, you know,
37:21what we have, we
37:21have two things.
37:22We have the
37:23general omnipresence
37:25of God, okay?
37:26So wherever we are,
37:27God is.
37:28And then we have
37:29God's special
37:30indwelling presence in
37:31us as believers.
37:33When we become
37:34saved, the Holy
37:36Spirit takes up
37:36residence inside of
37:38us.
37:40So that's the special
37:41place where God
37:42manifests himself.
37:44And then we have
37:45this special dwelling
37:47place of God on
37:48earth under the old
37:49covenant.
37:50That was the temple.
37:51And we know that in
37:53the Holy of Holies,
37:54God's Shekinah glory
37:55was there.
37:56And so when you
37:58wanted to draw
37:59near to God, of
38:00course, there was
38:01the general omnipresence
38:02of God.
38:03There was the
38:03personal indwelling
38:04of God.
38:05But then there was
38:06the special place
38:07where God manifested
38:09his personal presence,
38:10and that was the
38:11temple in Jerusalem.
38:12Well, we have the
38:13same thing under
38:14the new covenant.
38:15We have the
38:16general omnipresence
38:18of God.
38:18He's everywhere
38:19all the time.
38:20We have this special
38:22indwelling presence in
38:23us.
38:24The Spirit of God
38:25lives inside of us.
38:27And then we have
38:28the local church.
38:30And Jesus said in
38:31Matthew chapter 18
38:33and verse 20,
38:34where two or three
38:35are gathered together
38:36in my name,
38:37there am I in the
38:39midst.
38:41And so that's in the
38:42context of talking
38:44about the local
38:45church.
38:45It's not talking
38:46about just a group
38:48of people that meet
38:48on a street corner
38:49for five minutes.
38:51He's talking about
38:52the church there.
38:53and he talks
38:53about church
38:54discipline.
38:54If your brother
38:55offends you,
38:56go to him alone.
38:56If he doesn't hear
38:57you, take two or
38:58three more.
38:58If he doesn't hear
38:59them, tell it to
39:00the church.
39:01And then in that
39:02context he says,
39:03where you're gathered
39:04together in my name,
39:05there am I in the midst.
39:06So we have these
39:08three aspects.
39:09And then what you
39:10brought out there
39:11in Hebrews about
39:12the new Jerusalem,
39:14the heavenly Zion.
39:16And so, you know,
39:18there's the old
39:19Jerusalem, right?
39:19That was a
39:20geographical place.
39:22And of course,
39:23that was set in
39:25contrast in that
39:26passage with Mount
39:27Sinai where the law
39:29was given and there
39:30was the thunderings
39:31and the lightnings
39:31and all those things
39:32where the people
39:33were kind of terrified
39:34of the presence of
39:35God.
39:36But in the new
39:37Jerusalem, which is
39:38in heaven, that's
39:40going to be in the
39:41new earth.
39:42This is the covenant
39:43community of the
39:44people of God and the
39:45place of worship that
39:47we're going to have in
39:47the new heavens and the
39:48new earth.
39:48And you read about
39:51that in Revelation 21
39:52verses 1 to 4 where
39:54he says, I saw the
39:55new Jerusalem come
39:56down out of heaven as
39:58a bride adorned for
39:58her husband.
39:59And the idea there of
40:01dwelling on the new
40:02earth in a covenant
40:03community of glorified
40:06saints.
40:07So, yeah, we have a
40:10corporate community that
40:11we're part of now and
40:13we have a perfect
40:14corporate community
40:15we're going to be part
40:16of in the new heaven
40:17and the new earth
40:18where we will enjoy
40:20perfect fellowship
40:21forever.
40:22So, you know, what
40:24the author of the book
40:26of Hebrews is saying
40:27here in Hebrews chapter
40:2712 is that it's not a
40:30dreadful, fearful
40:31situation that we're
40:34looking at when we
40:35come into the presence
40:36of God, but it's a
40:37joyful, delightful one
40:38in which we will be
40:40together in heaven in
40:42that perfect covenant
40:43community.
40:44And yes, we'll be
40:45individuals in heaven,
40:45but yes, we'll have
40:47that corporate
40:48fellowship as well.
40:50Mike, thank you for
40:51bringing out that
40:52passage and the
40:53connection.
40:54Back over to you,
40:54Mike.
40:55Go ahead.
40:57Yeah, that's the great
40:59mystery is Christ in us,
41:01the hope of glory.
41:02that God of the universe
41:09would not just dwell
41:10holy temple, but dwell
41:11in us, who are but
41:13dust and mindful of
41:14dust, but he dwells in
41:16us.
41:17And that is our hope of
41:19glory.
41:20That is, I'm just
41:21astounded that that's
41:22still, when I think
41:24about it.
41:25And I will rejoice with
41:28those who say to me,
41:30you know, let's go to
41:31the house of the Lord.
41:31Let's go and gather
41:32together and fellowship
41:34together in 17th.
41:37Amen, Mike.
41:38Well said.
41:39Thank you for that
41:39comment.
41:40And yes, let's go up to
41:41the house of the Lord
41:42here on the earth, which
41:44is the local church, and
41:45let's go to the house of
41:46the Lord in the new
41:47earth by being saved, by
41:49being reconciled to God
41:51through repentance of
41:51sin and faith in Jesus.
41:53And that's ultimately
41:55the house of God, where
41:57we will dwell forever, is
41:58in that new Jerusalem and
42:00the new heaven and the
42:00new earth.
42:01So, isn't it amazing, yes,
42:03that the infinite God
42:04would dwell in us, who
42:08are just but dust, and
42:12sinful dust at that, but
42:14redeemed by Christ, and
42:17that indwelling presence of
42:18Christ and of the Spirit
42:20and of the Father is the
42:23promise, that one day we
42:24will dwell with Him in
42:26perfection.
42:27Mike, really appreciate
42:28your comment a lot.
42:30Okay, any other comments?
42:31Please come now.
42:32KM5F?
42:34Will, KM5F, go ahead.
42:36Yeah, in verse 6 through
42:388, and probably a little
42:40bit of 9, the author,
42:42David, doubles it down on
42:45the use of the word peace.
42:46In 6, it says, pray for the
42:48peace of Jerusalem.
42:49Well, the word Jerusalem,
42:51but the root for the word
42:52Jerusalem is shalom, which
42:54means peace.
42:55So, you could think of that
42:56as being pray for the peace
42:58of God's place of peace, or
43:01God's house of peace.
43:02KM5F?
43:04Yeah, and you're right.
43:05Verse 6, pray for the peace
43:06of Jerusalem.
43:07Verse 7, peace be within
43:09thy walls.
43:09Verse 8, I will now say,
43:12peace be within thee.
43:13And, you know, Jesus is the
43:15prince of peace, and he
43:16brings peace.
43:18You know, it says in
43:20Romans 5, in verse 1,
43:21therefore being justified
43:22by faith, we have peace
43:24with God through our Lord
43:26Jesus Christ.
43:27And so, peace, of course, is
43:29not only the absence of war,
43:32that's the negative element,
43:34but it's a positive
43:35reconciliation and a
43:37contented dwelling together
43:38with the person that
43:42we're at peace with.
43:43So, you know, it's not
43:45just a cessation of
43:46hostilities, it's a
43:48reconciliation of
43:49relationship.
43:51And so, when you have
43:53this peace that passes
43:55all understanding, that
43:56fills our hearts and
43:57minds, you know, Jesus
43:59says, peace I leave with
44:01you, my peace I give unto
44:02you, not as the world
44:04gives, give I unto you.
44:06And so, the New Testament
44:08is saturated with
44:10references to peace.
44:12And that's the peace
44:13that's being talked about
44:14here in Psalm 122.
44:16To be sure, political
44:17peace, so they could
44:18worship freely without
44:19having to engage in
44:21warfare, but also the
44:23peace of reconciliation
44:24with God.
44:26And so, thank the Lord
44:29that Jesus came to bring
44:31peace on earth and
44:34goodwill toward men.
44:36So, there's no better
44:37situation to be in than
44:39to be reconciled to God,
44:40to be at peace with
44:41God, and to be free
44:43from conflict with God.
44:44And that's all achieved
44:46through our Lord Jesus
44:47Christ, who secured that
44:49peace for us by removing
44:51the enmity that was
44:52between us and God,
44:53which was, of course,
44:55our sins.
44:57All right, we are about
44:59out of time.
45:00I think we need to go to
45:02prayer.
45:03Are there any final prayer
45:04requests before we close
45:05in prayer?
45:06Please come now with
45:06your call sign.
45:13All right, well, I look
45:15forward to seeing you
45:17in the wall in the new
45:19Jerusalem and in that
45:22heavenly city and place
45:26of worship in the new
45:28earth around the throne
45:29of God.
45:30What a wonderful thing
45:31that will be.
45:32And we'll be there if we
45:34repent of our sins and
45:36trust in Jesus alone for
45:38our salvation from sin.
45:41It says, whoever shall call
45:43upon the name of the Lord
45:44shall be saved.
45:45So call on the name of
45:46the Lord, be saved, ask
45:48Jesus to forgive you of
45:50your sins and to reconcile
45:51you to his father.
45:53And he will, and you will
45:55be there.
45:56All right, let's go ahead
45:58and go to prayer.
45:59It's my turn to pray today.
46:00So let's bring our needs
46:02before the Lord.
46:04Our kind and gracious
46:05heavenly father, we thank
46:07you that you have given us
46:09a corporate place of
46:10worship.
46:11Thank you for this Bible
46:13study.
46:14This is a corporate place
46:15of worship.
46:16Thank you for our local
46:17churches.
46:18They are a corporate place
46:20of worship.
46:21In fact, the best place of
46:23corporate worship now
46:24during this era of the
46:26new covenant.
46:27And so, Lord, we pray your
46:28blessing on our local
46:29churches that they will be
46:31places of peace, that they
46:33will be places where the
46:35brethren dwell together in
46:36unity and where their focus
46:40is all on the worship of
46:42our Lord Jesus Christ and
46:44bringing glory to him.
46:46And, Father, we just are
46:48glad when the day comes
46:51that we are to go to church
46:53and to worship with your
46:55people.
46:56Thank you, Father, for
46:57providing us with this
46:58psalm of optimism that not
47:01only do we gather now here
47:02on this earth, but one day
47:04we will gather together in the
47:06new earth that Mike was
47:08talking about in that new
47:09Jerusalem where we will be
47:12together forever in perfect
47:14harmony and perfect peace and
47:16perfect unity and perfect
47:18focus on our Savior and on
47:20his worship.
47:21And as the hymn writer said,
47:22we can worship with
47:23unsinning hearts.
47:25And what a day that will be.
47:28Father, we have needs and we
47:30ask you to meet these needs.
47:32Lord, we think of Roger W.B.
47:3427VZL, who today is going to
47:37be ministering and serving
47:38communion at the church in
47:40Yuma Pine, Oregon.
47:42Lord, I pray your blessing
47:43would be on him as he speaks
47:45and ministers in that little
47:46assembly.
47:47And, Lord, we pray that your
47:48presence would be strongly
47:50felt and that your spirit
47:52would work powerfully in the
47:54lives of the people through
47:56the ministry of the word and
47:58the ordinance of the Lord's
48:00Supper.
48:01Lord, we just want to pray for
48:02Ed in 6XOH, who's going to
48:04be preaching today in his
48:05church.
48:06We pray that his words would
48:07be guided by your Holy
48:08Spirit to reach all those
48:10who are in attendance.
48:12Lord, we just ask that you
48:13be pleased to bless these
48:14two men as they minister the
48:17word of God today.
48:18Father, we pray for Rob,
48:20KB7CL, and his unspoken
48:22prayer request.
48:23Father, you know what that
48:24is, and you know how to meet
48:26that need.
48:27And so, Father, just draw near
48:29to Rob.
48:30Show yourself strong on his
48:31behalf, and, Father, meet that
48:34need that is in his life.
48:36Father, we pray for Brother
48:37Mike in 7G&D.
48:39He's going to be going elk
48:40hunting next Wednesday.
48:42Just pray, Lord, that you
48:43would give him a success in
48:46his hunt.
48:46And, Father, while he's out
48:47there, give him good
48:49fellowship with the other men
48:50that he's with, and also with
48:52you as he enjoys your
48:54creation.
48:55And, Father, how all of that
48:57points to your glory.
48:58Father, we just pray for Joe,
49:00KI6WXP, who's on the road
49:03now, traveling, to meet with
49:06his friends.
49:08And, Lord, we pray that your
49:09good hand would be on him.
49:11Keep him safe, Father, and
49:12bring him safely back to us
49:13tomorrow.
49:15Father, we pray for Eric,
49:17KD70S, for healing from his
49:19balance issues, his dizziness,
49:21and nausea.
49:22Thank you, Lord, that he seems
49:24to be improving.
49:24We're grateful for that.
49:25Just bring him, Father, back
49:27to level ground and full
49:28health.
49:29Lord, we pray for our
49:30brother Mark, KG7PVT, for his
49:32unspoken prayer request.
49:34Father, you know that need
49:35as well.
49:36And, Lord, we pray that you
49:38would be pleased to meet his
49:39need also.
49:40Father, we just pray for Al,
49:42N6MOT.
49:44Father, we pray for the health
49:45issues that he and his wife
49:47have.
49:47Thank you for the good report
49:48today.
49:49But, Lord, we're saddened to
49:50hear of Michael, who recently
49:53passed into the presence of
49:54Jesus.
49:55Thank you, Father, that he's
49:57with his Savior.
49:59But, Lord, family misses him,
50:01especially his wife, Angela,
50:03and her family.
50:04So, Lord, I pray for special
50:05comfort and peace for Angela.
50:08And, Father, may the promises
50:09of the gospel be rich to her
50:11and be a great source of
50:13comfort to her that one day
50:14she will be back together with
50:16her husband again.
50:17Just give Al wisdom in
50:19ministering in that situation
50:21in whatever way you have
50:23called him to do.
50:25Father, we continue to pray
50:26for our brother George,
50:28K1KOY.
50:30Father, George needs comfort.
50:32He lost his wife, Pamela.
50:33You don't get over that
50:35ever.
50:36Father, you just learn to
50:38accept and embrace
50:40this new providence
50:43from the perspective of hope,
50:45of reunion.
50:47Lord, I just pray for comfort,
50:48for George, peace, strength,
50:50wisdom, courage to get up
50:53and to go forward
50:54into the next day.
50:56And, Lord, we just pray
50:57for George's family
50:59and that, Lord,
51:00they would all pull together,
51:02that they would all be
51:02at peace with each other.
51:04And, Lord, that your goodness
51:06would be on them.
51:08Lord, many have been lost
51:10to cancer.
51:11Many are battling cancer
51:12right now.
51:13And we pray for each one,
51:14Lord, that you would be
51:16pleased to bring healing.
51:18And, Father, we pray for
51:19Charles, N7VEN,
51:21who lost his son Trevor
51:22to cancer on October 11th.
51:25Lord, just be with Charles.
51:26Give him peace.
51:27And, Lord, give him wisdom
51:29in providing a godly,
51:31biblical counsel
51:32to his wife and others
51:34in his family, Lord,
51:35who need perspective
51:37on Trevor's death.
51:39Father, we pray for Noah,
51:41Dave, AI7QQ,
51:43is ministering to this young man
51:44who just got out of prison,
51:45made a profession of faith
51:46in Christ.
51:47Lord, bring stability
51:48into his life.
51:50I pray that he would build
51:51his life around Christ
51:52instead of around crime.
51:54And, Lord, may he flourish
51:56as a citizen of your kingdom
51:58as he pursues a new life
52:01where he's turned
52:03from crime to Christ.
52:06Father, we pray for Jerry,
52:07KG6J, his boss, Rochelle,
52:10as she goes through chemo
52:11and radiation.
52:13Just heal her, we ask.
52:14Father, we just pray
52:17that Jerry would be successful
52:18in his plumbing work today.
52:20Father, I know what a trial
52:21that is.
52:22Give him wisdom.
52:23Help it to go well.
52:24And, Father, may there be
52:25no leaks.
52:26Father, I just pray
52:28that you would help
52:30Jerry to flourish
52:33in his physical therapy.
52:35And may those treatments
52:36be effective
52:37in helping him
52:38with both his back pain
52:39and his balance.
52:40Father, thank you
52:42for the good news
52:43that Beck was able
52:44to and Sandy
52:45was able to sign
52:46on the house
52:47and it's now theirs.
52:49And now they've got
52:50some remodeling work to do.
52:51Father, give them strength.
52:53Father, I just pray
52:54that they would have wisdom
52:55in being able
52:57to manage
52:58the remodel
52:59of the house
53:00so that it suits
53:01them really well.
53:02And, Lord,
53:03we just pray
53:04that you give back wisdom
53:05in getting up antennas
53:06and being able
53:07to transmit
53:08from that new location.
53:10We pray for their neighbor,
53:11Nancy,
53:11for her salvation
53:12and healing,
53:13for Jan Brookhart,
53:14for her ability to walk,
53:16and for her husband,
53:17Ken,
53:17and his heart arrhythmia issues.
53:19Lord, just meet
53:20each of those
53:21physical needs.
53:22Father, we pray
53:23for Mike,
53:24KI7RSB,
53:25and his wife, Liz,
53:26who's fighting cancer.
53:27Lord, we pray
53:28for an effective
53:28treatment for her.
53:30We just ask
53:31that you would meet
53:32her needs for healing.
53:34Father, for Will,
53:34KM5F,
53:35Lord,
53:37we just continue
53:37to pray
53:38that the hormone
53:38treatment will defeat
53:41the cancer
53:41that's in his body.
53:43And, Lord,
53:43we want to pray
53:44for Keisha
53:45and her salvation.
53:46Lord, cause her
53:47to cast all her care
53:48upon you
53:49and know that
53:50you care for her.
53:52Lord, we pray
53:52for the distribution
53:54of Bibles
53:54that Jeff AK6OK
53:56is involved in.
53:57Father,

55:42as well,
55:43that both Kendra

56:25you would raise up
56:25a man to be able

56:30Father, we pray
56:31for the silent
56:31multitude that
56:32listens to the
56:33West Coast Bible
56:34study.
56:35Lord, lots of IP
56:36addresses and just
56:37guys out there and
56:38girls listening on
56:39their radios.
56:40Lord, you know the
56:41needs in each of
56:42their lives.
56:43Meet them, we ask,
56:44Father, thank you
56:45for their presence,
56:46their support, and
56:47their ability to
56:49listen over the
56:51airwaves.
56:52Father, we continue
56:53to pray for Chris,
56:55an old friend of
56:56Brian, KJ7PWM,
56:58for his salvation.
56:59And Lord, for him
57:00to be open to
57:01Brian's ministry.
57:01Father, he's kind
57:02of shut Brian out
57:03of his life.
57:04Pray that he would
57:05reappear in Brian's
57:06life and that
57:07Brian would be able
57:08to speak to him
57:10about the gospel.
57:11And this time, he
57:12would be open and
57:13tender and ready
57:15to become saved.
57:17Father, we just
57:17want to pray for
57:18the pastors of
57:19our churches.
57:20Father, we know
57:21that Roger and Ed
57:22are ministering
57:23today.
57:24Others will be
57:24ministering tomorrow.
57:26Lord, we just
57:27pray for each one.
57:28Lord, that they
57:29would just have
57:30grace and strength,
57:32wisdom, understanding,
57:34insight into the
57:35scriptures, the
57:35presence and power
57:36of the Spirit to
57:38illuminate their
57:39minds so that they
57:40can not only
57:41accurately understand
57:43the word of God,
57:44but bring it to
57:44bear on the lives
57:46of the people with
57:47clarity and with
57:49helpfulness, Father,
57:51and with encouragement.
57:53Father, we pray that
57:54they would preach the
57:54word and be faithful,
57:56whether it's convenient
57:57or not, to reprove
57:59and to rebuke and to
58:00exhort with all
58:01patience and teaching.
58:04Father, we just want
58:05to pray for the
58:06unsaved and the
58:07unchurched in our
58:08communities.
58:09Father, we're
58:09surrounded by unsaved
58:11people.
58:12Lord, I just pray that
58:13you would use us as
58:14lights in a dark
58:15place and that we
58:16would be able to
58:17minister the gospel to
58:19the people around us
58:21and that you would
58:22bring them to
58:23salvation.
58:24Father, we just
58:25want to thank you
58:30for your goodness to
58:31us in providing us
58:33with this Bible study.
58:35Thank you for your
58:36goodness and mercy and
58:37grace to each one of
58:38us and thank you
58:40most of all for the
58:41gifts of your son,
58:42Jesus Christ, in whom
58:44we trust and in whose
58:46name we pray.
58:47In Jesus' name, amen.
58:50All right, this is
58:50WV7MAX, Net Control
58:52for the West Coast
58:52Bible Study.
58:53I want to thank all
58:54the stations who
58:55checked in this
58:55morning, as well as
58:57those who stood by to
58:57give us a clear
58:58operating frequency.
58:59Ah, I just glanced
59:01at my SDR and
59:02there's Dave, K-E-7-W-K-I.
59:05Good morning, Dave.
59:06Good to have you
59:07with us, and we got
59:08you checked in.
59:09Thank you for joining
59:10us.
59:11All right, we meet
59:11here seven days a week
59:12at 6 a.m. in order to
59:13read the scriptures,
59:15understand their meaning,
59:16message, and application
59:17to our lives, and then
59:18pray for grace and
59:19mercy to be able to
59:21live out what we
59:22learn and for God to
59:23meet the needs of
59:24those that are in our
59:25circle of fellowship.
59:26I'll be returning the
59:27frequency now to regular
59:29amateur use.
59:30This is WV7MAX.
59:32I will be clear and
59:33standing by.
59:34KG6J.
59:36Jerry, KG6J, go ahead.
59:38So, I'm not sure,
59:40Pastor Matt, but I
59:41thought I heard someone
59:43come in about a half a
59:45second late when you
59:46asked for new prayer
59:48concerns, and I heard
59:50someone double with you.
59:52So, there could be one
59:54prayer request that
59:55didn't get in.
59:56I don't know if that
59:57person would be willing
59:58to raise their hand now,
60:00but I'm going to let you
60:01check, and I'm sorry if
60:03I'm wrong, but back to
60:04you, KG6J.
60:06No worries, Jerry.
60:07Thank you for that
60:08relay.
60:08All right, station that
60:09had a prayer request that
60:10I did not respond to,
60:11please come now with
60:12your prayer request.
60:24Any relays?
60:27Nothing.
60:27Nothing.
60:28Sorry, Pastor Matt.
60:30KG6J, back to you.
60:32No need for apologies.
60:34I thank you for doing
60:35that, and it could be
60:36they hung up the phone,
60:38but in any event, I'm
60:40sorry if I missed
60:41someone's prayer request.
60:42Certainly don't intend to
60:43do that, but as you all
60:44know, the way ham radio
60:45works, sometimes we
60:46double with each other
60:47and don't even hear each
60:48other.
60:49All right.
60:49Any comments anybody
60:51wants to make?
60:52Please come down with
60:53your call sign.
60:54WB7VZO.
60:56Roger, please go ahead.
60:57Yeah, I have a question.
60:59Is the station, is Mike
61:02new to us?
61:04I was really, I really
61:07appreciated his experience
61:10of Colossians 1, 26 and 27,
61:14and the Hebrews comments
61:16today, too.
61:17That's one of the special
61:20passages in my heart that
61:21is, bless me, is he new
61:23to us, Oliver?
61:25Yeah, Mike, that's N7G&D.
61:27Mike's been around here
61:28for a couple months.
61:29Well, longer than that,
61:30I think, three or four
61:31months anyway, and he does
61:35speak up from time to
61:36time, so Roger, he's been
61:38here for a little bit, but
61:40thank you for commenting
61:41on the comment Mike made
61:43and your appreciation of
61:45that, and so that's the
61:48answer to your question.
61:48Roger, back to you.
61:49Well, thank you.
61:50Appreciate that.
61:51Well, look forward to
61:52hearing him again.
61:54This is WB7VZL.
61:55Thanks, Max, for your
61:56prayers.
61:57Really appreciate it, and
61:59God bless you and your
62:01challenges.
62:02Oh, I'm just, yeah, the
62:05Lord has given you some
62:06wonderful resilience in the
62:08face of the disaster.
62:11We were doing some
62:12plumbing yesterday through
62:14my friend, I must say,
62:16and I was thinking about
62:18you as we went to the
62:19plumbing shop and wanted to
62:21make sure things that
62:22won't leak, and I thought
62:25of you vividly because he
62:27said that they found a part
62:28in the Tushy church that
62:31was causing a mysterious
62:32leak.
62:34I had plenty of
62:35occasion to feel sorry for
62:37you all.
62:38Yeah, I copy that.
62:39Well, you know, water is so
62:41essential to have inside of a
62:43house, but it's also a
62:44tremendous threat to have
62:46inside the house.
62:48You know, it's kind of like I
62:49got a wood stove, Roger, and
62:50fire is great as long as it
62:52stays inside the wood stove,
62:53right?
62:54You don't want it outside the
62:56wood stove at all, and water is
62:58great as long as it stays inside
62:59the pipes.
63:01You don't want it outside the
63:02pipes at all.
63:04And so, anyway, we bring
63:05these things into our house
63:07because they're a giant
63:08blessing.
63:09But, man, we've got to watch
63:10them like a hawk to make sure
63:11they stay where they belong.
63:13So, I'm going to shake my
63:15finger at all the water pipes
63:16in my house and say, you keep
63:18the water inside and don't let
63:20any out.
63:22All right, Roger, good.
63:24And Lord's blessing be on you as
63:26you go and minister today.
63:28All right, any other comments?
63:29Please come now.
63:35Brian, KJ7 PWM, go ahead.
63:39And just a second of seeing if my
63:42audio is getting better, I might
63:44have gotten the settings on my
63:45remote.
63:47Yeah, I think I understand you
63:49better.
63:50You know, you've blocked out the
63:52lows and you've got more of the
63:53highs in there, and it makes you
63:56easier to understand.
63:57I can understand your words.
63:59It still sounds kind of echoey,
64:01you know, like you're talking
64:02inside of a bucket or something.
64:05But you are more understandable
64:08now than you were.
64:09Over.
64:11How does this sound?
64:13That sounds way better.
64:15Huge improvement.
64:16I don't know what you did, but do
64:17some more of that.
64:18Yeah, I can hear him down here
64:20now.
64:20Yeah, well, when you could hear me
64:23really good, I was talking directly
64:25into the phone on the, or the mic
64:28on the radio.
64:30But when you have a little more
64:31trouble, well, right now, I'm going
64:33through the remote.
64:34I'm talking into my iPhone, which is
64:36connected to my iCom 7300.
64:40Of course, I can hear it now that I'm
64:42holding it right.
64:43I can actually hear myself on Utah.
64:45So maybe I just wasn't holding it
64:48right.
64:49Well, copy that.
